Attending: South Oldham H.S., KY (calendar) Possibility: Carroll H.S., IN - (Homestead or BOA Regional) Source: CHS Band Calendar Yayband ur correct. I just saw UL football schedule they seem to have an away game on Sept. 28, so this would probably be the date BOA chooses. Drop: Carroll H.S., IN (going to Homestead competition instead)

Not surprised this happened tbh Why? Back in November a few members of the band mentioned to me that instead of doing regionals they had attended before and grand nats that they'd be going to places they'd never been to before

According to the MFA website, as of today there is limited space available which means there are roughly 5 spots or less available!

Although I've been to Tennessee a few times, I literally just had to google pics of Kentucky because I had no idea what anything looked like over there lol
On that note... there are a few groups I'm anticipating show announcements for a smidge more than the rest & O'Fallon is one of 'em! Really excited to see how they do this coming season

Confirmed for September 28th. That knocks out Brownsburg- it’s Homecoming weekend Bands don't care about HOCO. They usually always do their own event on an off-week.

Homecoming is an off weekend for Brownsburg, period. They march in the Homecoming parade Friday night and that’s it. Let the kids experience all that high school has to offer.

"Weekend off" doesn't necessarily mean no Saturday rehearsal. It may just mean no competitions on any of those weekends. William Mason has more than 2 or 3 weekends between the start of the season and Grand Nationals with no competitions. They seem to do okay with that schedule. Marching Band is only part of the high school experience for the students. Homecoming is a big deal to some students and to deny them the opportunity to participate could have the negative impact (to both the band and more importantly to the students themselves) of those students having to make a choice - be in band OR be able to go to Homecoming. As a district-wide group, Lincoln-Way has to work around multiple Homecomings. Good for them prioritizing the overall student experience over "just" the band.

I missed my senior prom for WGI in high school and couldn’t have cared less - but I would never want to speak for anyone else as some students and parents took issue.
FMHS (SC) didn’t have a homecoming dance (only prom in spring). Which I never understood, but nobody ever complained or even said anything. We did of course have a homecoming football game, pep rally’s ect.
I think Nation Ford did eventually have a homecoming dance starting a few years ago, but covid may have killed that too I’m not sure.
Maybe it’s a southern thing (or SC thing) to only have prom. Which one would think wouldn’t be the case in the south with the pageant culture and all … who knows!

Agreed, glad they are given those opportunities to more high school experiences. For a second I thought they just had 3 weekends off with NOTHING scheduled 😅
