Dare I hope MPLT eeks in? If they have as good or better run than yesterday, they might have a chance at 12th spot? They are last of top 22 to perform today (3:30).

I don’t hate this Carmel show, actually I quite like it. There are just some questionable moments where it puts doubt into my head that they’ll win. For example, what is that low brass feature after the ballad??!? Still, a great performance especially for the guard.

Sometimes you need to see a show in person, combined with a great run. And easily the soloist’s best run of the season from anything I’ve been privy to.
Don’t think they’ll win, but I think Carmel will make a big push to bring home a precious metal of some sort.

I haven't seen Homestead's show before and didn't know it was supposed to have any electronically generated sound effects until reading the posts above.
But sound effects are always bad, so personally I'm glad they weren't working, whatever they were. Leave 'em out!

I think NH is still very much in this Individual judges can surprise. No way to know for sure until awards. I still can’t see them over Marian for a laundry list of reasons. I’ll say that the visual caption can be had, but would be shocked if another caption is picked up. Also, I don’t think being in the Next 8 grouping helps any band who has serious designs on any class title, with the exception of Class A. On another note, I’m not as down on Homestead’s chances. Bad time for bad things to happen, but I think judges understand. Disagree- If it was a judge that saw the show before with the electronics it could be bad for them. What a shame kids work so hard and then that happens.

I actually thought their performance was pretty good, did the electronics come on for the ballad? I think they came on mid show

Well Carmel really showed up to play today! Lush, full, delicious brass sounds, and exemplary control demonstrated throughout that entire gorgeous, slow-boiling ballad. That was a much better performance!

Totally different band from Prelims. They showed up to play, and they ain't outta that medal hunt yet.
I think my favorite thing about new-era Carmel, besides the impeccable designs, is their MASSIVE, concertesque, orchestral wind writing. Tons of slowly-developing, lonnnnnnnnnnnggggggg sustained arcs of phrases that lead to glorious conclusions. Something it took them all season to pull off, but they're finally there. I got chills on those final chords.

I actually thought their performance was pretty good, did the electronics come on for the ballad? I think they came on mid show They did. Right at the beginning of the ballad when the vocals kicked in. I’m so glad those who didn’t know they were missing didn’t think that took away from their performance. Those of us who knew they weren’t working were freaking out a bit.

Marian Catholic has a tough music book as always but the show is just simply too dirty to be in finals. I will be extremely surprised if we see them back in this season as the top 12. We may see them tonight as their class rep... maybe. I agree. Very demanding musically, but too dirty. Feet were especially all over the place. But I also think they end up getting the AA title. Side note: Was the intention that the show would always be about Lilith/Eden in its final state, or was that a re-write towards the end of the season? I think it was an end of season change.

I don't really care were Carmel places, this show will probably go down as my favorite shows from them.

Park Vista had a MUCH better semi's run than prelims. After prelims I had them right around the 20 mark, and after semi's I do have them closer to finals. I personally think they're just outside, but will be in finals in the very near future.

Wow Park Vista! Who else loves this Michael Gaines Show? Beautiful ballad and percussion line and lower brass is killing it. That was the best performance I have ever seen from them. I think after that performance they make finals for sure.

Same as most stated; I've got PV outside of Finals but wouldn't be surprised if they slipped in. Tough draw after a perfect Carmel performance, but they were solid. I don't love the show, and I don't like the writing for the singer. It's out of her range for most of the show and doesn't allow her to sound good when I'm sure she normally sounds excellent.

Well, time for the real question
Homestead vs. Park Vista vs. Roundrock
The only time electronics didn’t work for Homestead was their pre-show, which should not be commented on I believe. I have them in finals, their brass sounded a million times better than yesterday (still improveable) and they were visually outSTANDING.
I’d put Homestead like .1 above roundrock, mainly because they are excelling SO much today in visual, but we all know roundrock’s hornline is a lot better than most of the top 8.
Park Vista was a strange show, I have them in the lower bubble, probably out.
Overall:
Homestead (barely) Round rock
—— FINALS CUTOFF —— Park Vista

Union was my favorite of all the “bubble” bands thus far! li think around Rock will end up above them but Union was more enjoyable for me.

No electronics from Homestead. There goes their finals appearance! Wait, what? They were missing electronics? It was my first time seeing their show and I didn’t notice a lack of electronics. It didn’t take anything away from their show. That’s a show I absolutely want to see again in finals just so I can appreciate the visuals at the end.

Ok I think I'm the odd man out here. That was the first time I've seen Union, and I'm floored at how much I didn't care for it & the performance quality. I usually adore anything Union brings to the field! I question a lot of the design choices. The pacing was really odd, the staging felt claustrophobic, and that seemed to be a pretty rough run from the brass. I will say they ended quite strongly. I don't see that design & performance topping Homestead, PV, RR, or Marian. BUT, I'll be happily wrong if Union gets Finalist berth #12 for them tonight. I just don't think it was tight enough in terms of performance quality or design to play again.
