Very surprised to see Flower Mound so low after Prelims. Did anyone see their run?

Wish vista murrieta made finals at San Antonio but I also heard that they will be attending grand nationals next year so maybe they can redeem themselves there!! I hope they do! Would love to see them get in after they narrowly missed a few years back! Yeah that .3 was heartbreaking!

Glad to see Vista Ridge is floating around at the top of the SA field for year #2. Wonder when/if we'll ever see them at Nats. And speaking of which, this is another year of Reagan dominance and no GN visit for them. Hopefully when they decide to go back they bring just as strong of a production, because these last few have been unreal. I'm still going to maintain my early season prediction regardless of what happens tonight. Vandegrift will win GN. I can't imagine them leaving with anything less than bronze, but I'm backing this racehorse to the very end. I can't reveal my source, but I heard VR is planning to come to GN next year. That fact has been made public.

Great energy and focus tonight, James Bowie.

James Bowie continues to produce avant-garde shows and I'm all about it. They're always so incredibly different and especially stand out in a field of Texas bands. They seem to be strongest visually this year. The staging and guard integration were well done, making really great use of the space beyond the front sideline with their front ensemble shifted to one side. Very happy to see them back in finals this year.
For all you rule experts out there, what is the max distance a band can use beyond the front sideline? I'm curious after seeing Bowie's performance.

Watching those four Keller kids sprint across the field during set up with equipment exhausts me.

Wasn’t Roma the AAA champ at McAllen? Now they’re AA?

Keller was absolutely on fire tonight. They were a stark contrast to Bowie, much more in-your-face. Between them and Bowie, the bar is being set awfully high. We're going to see some ridiculous scores tonight.

In person - Keller sounded FANTASTIC! What an ensemble sound, my god. And that drill is insane.

I think, looking at the general calendar, that UIL State is the week before GN next year, not the same week as it sometimes is. If that's the case, hopefully we see a large TX contingent again, like Reagan, VR, Keller, etc.

The front boundary for performers is 15 feet in front of the front sideline. Field Commander podiums are permitted to be beyond this boundary, as are mixing boards or wireless mixing devices. Drum Majors who perform may not do so on a podium outside the boundary
The rear boundary is whatever physical impediment prevents going any further back.

When does BOA usually post the prelim full recap? I’m dying to see scores.

When does BOA usually post the prelim full recap? I’m dying to see scores. After finals conclude. The standard answer used to be "some time on Monday, unless it's not" but the recaps have been posted much faster this year.

First time I've seen Round Rock all year, but I think with some cleaning they should be a lock for GN finals as well. I quite like their show design this year as well, pretty straightforward but enjoyable to watch.

I can absolutely see why Round Rock was in finals, while also agreeing with some comments from earlier today. They perform at a finalist caliber, for sure, but the show design against the rest of this field is comparatively unimaginative. I also can't help but feel like their VGE score won't be very high. They have a small guard that wasn't utilized nearly as well as they could have. No real big moments to help them stand out and enhance the visual production.

Only one AAA band in the finals, and Leander is big for 3A. Love to see where CP, Wakeland, and Rouse stacked up. Wakeland surprised me. Curious to see what they do at State Monday and Tuesday.

I cannot believe I just watched a bottom seven finalist show. The GE in The Woodlands show is soooooo high, I would think GE itself would've placed them into the top seven, but I guess that shows how competitive San Antonio is

I still don't know quite what to say. I suppose I can see some areas where they need to clean a bit, but that show is a production and a half. I'm floored they weren't in the top seven in prelims.

The Woodlands have the most entertaining show of the night, in my opinion. So fun to watch them perform on the field and the music performance is excellent as well! It seems that jazz/swing style shows don't usually perform quite as well in BOA, so maybe that could have affected their placement. We'll have to see with the recaps.
