I’ve got the ‘tism, so personally, I really never know for sure. 😉 Hahaha I'm not sure if I've ever heard my disability called the 'tism, that's a new one. I can relate though obviously I saw this video a few weeks ago where two autistic people were set up on a blind date, and one of them said out of nowhere, “Well, it seems we both have a touch of the ‘tism.” Had a good laugh from that. And so, I will forever refer to it as that, hahaha!

I feel like this would be a cool opening to a show: -Choreography aligning to the waltz-y feel, band separated on either side of the field, but as the choreography progresses the two halves get gradually closer together
Although the song doesn't necessarily have a climactic moment, the end of the song (2:40 or so) is sort of resolved with a transition to a major key - perhaps at this moment when the key transitions from minor to major, the percussion, some gothic-sounding synths, and brass come in for an impact moment as the band does group choreo centered around the 50 and upon the end of the song, the band flutters away and disperses into groups

There are a few:
-Come Sunday by Omar Thomas -Metroplex by Robert Sheldon -New Mistake by Jellyfish -Bye, Bye, Bye by Jellyfish -Little Dark Age by MGMT -Plantasia by Mort Garson -In Close Harmony by Adrian Baker and Roy Morgan -My Time by bo en -Hammerhead by Simon Haseley
All of these tunes different in their own ways. Many can be used as an opener, ballad, or closer to a show. Would love to see them on a field some day.

I can relate though obviously I’d say we should start a club, but I think this whole marching arts thing does a good enough job of attracting us already 😜

After playing the first game in the series and watching this trailer I've always thought that this piece would work amazingly as an opener, especially into a really powerful piece like Bruckner's 8th or something like that. Specifically I think the scream around 1:10 would make a really strong start to an aggressive, low brass heavy show. I'm pretty sure a WGI corps played something else by Heilung a few years ago, I think it was RythmX but I'm not too sure.

There are so many choral pieces that I feel would be adapted well on the field. Unfortunately, one of my favorite contemporary composers, Morten Lauridsen, doesn't allow marching bands to play his music. O Magnum Mysterium would be gorgeous. I also love Les Chansons des Roses and think Dirait- On would be a beautiful ballad. Ove 'Lass Il bel Viso would be cool too.
Another one I've thought would be fascinating is Cantate Domino by Tarik O'Regan. There are some really interesting rhythms and polyphony between instruments and vocal parts that I think would translate very well on the field.
As far as popular music goes, I think it may have been used, but I'd love to see Starry, Starry Night by Don McLean for a ballad. Or maybe even the arrangement of it used by James Blake.
Jacob Collier's music would be very difficult to pull off, but it's brilliant. Sleeping on my Dreams could be a really interesting drum break/ high energy transition song. His arrangement of The Carpenter's Close to You would be such a chill bop if we got some jazz soloists to use it in a ballad.

I'd like to hear a version without a vocalist though. The lyrics are beautiful, but I don't usually enjoy vocalists in marching shows because I spend all of my effort listening to them and they are sometimes hard to hear or slightly out of tune with the band.

I think a couple bands in the early 2000s played O Magnum Mysterium. Bellbrook in maybe 2004 or 2005 played it. I think i recognized it being played on finals night, so maybe 2004 when they won class AA?

I wish I saw any songs from Cody Martin used in Shows. Example: Arise, Mayhem, and Monarch Wings would be so interesting on the field.

I'd love to see this piece in a horror type show.
Around the 1:05 mark that high energy waltz type thing could really be something spectacular to see on the the field.

I've always been a massive Smiths fan but none of their music is really fit for the marching arts, except for this one imo. I really think it could fit in as either an opening hit or a Bloo 2016 style ballad. The bass guitar parts fit pretty nicely into the parts that low brass would play (using trombones, not euphs) and the vocal parts of the song could be pretty easily replaced by either a small ensemble or soloist. The actual guitar parts would be hard to substitute out with instruments from a marching band but, a smart music writer could chop it up and share it between mellos/trumpets and the pit.

I watched NOPE a bit ago and really loved it, and The Run (Urban Legends) has really stuck in my head. It'd be a really fun tune to hear on the field.

In light of today's news, I wonder if any prominent high school marching band has played William Walton's "Orb and Sceptre"?
Troy H.S. from Ohio did a show in 2015 or 2016 about Britain's queens, commemorating the year that Elizabeth II succeeded Victoria as Britain's longest-reigning monarch, but I can't remember if it included Walton's piece, which was composed for her coronation in 1953.

I was not a fan of whatever crown used for the it is show in 2017 (that show was a hot mess) but Harrison and Prosper used the “Queens Fanfare” from Walton and I liked that a lot. Good energy to it although it’s a very short piece

Also… why dont more bands play Roman Festivals by respighi? Wando did in 2005, didn’t owasso play it in the mario show? Those are the only ones I can think of.
It also has a great energy more so than pines of rome imo.

Let's be honest...most Crown shows are a hot mess. 😂Totally agree. Haha but that one especially. After inferno they lost me Carolina Crown played Walton's "Crown Imperial" in 2017. That was composed in 1911 1937 for the coronation of Elizabeth II's grandfather father -- and I think it's superior to "Orb and Sceptre," which has been played just twice by drum corps, according to DCX. "Crown Imperial" has been played numerous times, perhaps most notably by 27th Lancers in 1981 and Star of Indiana in 1989. I completely agree that Carolina Crown's most recent shows, whatever their technical merits, have been weird jumbles. For me, their last fully enjoyable show was "Relentless" in 2016. The Respighi I'd like to hear on the field is "Brazilian Impressions." There may be copyright issues with his works; when DCI first started removing videos from its online "Fan Network" in 2014, shows featuring Respighi's music were among the first to go.

I want to see Crown's 2018 ballad, "If I fell", done again by some BOA band. I hated that show but I genuinely thought that their ballad that year, musically at least, was the best and it gives me chills listening to it.

I played this piece in concert band my senior year and it was honestly the most fun I'd ever had with music. It sounds like something that has probably already done before by another band, though if it has then I can't name which band that is.

The portion that starts around the 8 minute mark. I love it so much.

This has been done a few times before to my knowledge, most recently Rockwall Heath last year. Sebastian River (going to BOA Orlando) is also performing this piece this year.

Keller did it so much justice. I’d love to see someone like Wando or even like an Avon play it. They could really knock it out of the park

Into the silent land
Such an amazing and powerfully emotional piece that would work perfectly as a ballad
It’d have to be one heck of a band to pull it off but it would be AMAZING TO SEE!!

I want to hear a more in depth use of Partita for 8 Voices. I've heard what the detail of the pattern is a couple times now and I'd like to hear what else the piece has to offer.
I think trombones (or French horns?) could do a pretty interesting job at mimicking the weird note dips common throughout the song
