Dang. 10 of 12. Two of which I get and one being in I had first band out. I was WAY off on my read of Lambert. Maybe I'm mis-remembering them when I was doing the rankings. Will certainly have to give them a closer look tonight! Overall though, think I did a pretty good job. *Pats self on back*

What class is Collierville? Saw them earlier and liked them….but you know I’m partial to JFB! Collierville is in AAAA. Lots of tough competition up there too! May see a bit of shifting tonight though if Collierville has a better run tonight which I think they have it in them.

Collierville in bottom half is surprising to me. Did they have a bad run?

Oof to Collierville! I thought it was just the stream quality accounting for maybe wind but perhaps it really was just a bad run and I was being too generous. Hopefully they can turn that around tonight!
Hernando top half means that they likely didn't get a penalty which is good. Was a bit worried about that. Bartlett top half as well! Well deserved.

Oh no what happened to Mill creek? I didn’t get a chance to watch the livestream but they were such a notable band these few years(especially since they placed 2nd by half a point next to Walton in powder springs last year). I think the last time they didn’t make finals at a regional competition was 2016 and around 2012? Can someone fill me in on what happened?

Gwinnett county opening a new high school and taking a big chunk of mill creek plus I believe a director change but don’t quote me on that

A very up and down BOA success rate.

Bartlett is an impressive band. But I can’t help notice their visual demand is pretty light compared to their competitors here

So many great bands today, hard to rank any of them. All I'll say is that I don't think anything is for certain. Dobyns Bennett was fantastic and their show is beautiful and highly demanding, but I thought Byrnes was cleaner overall.

It’s not too 6 / bottom 6, it was a totally random draw. Thanks for your kind comments about our show, I’m glad you enjoyed it! Our first run wasn’t the best because it was really windy and they were staring right into the sun at 12:30, but we are thrilled with our finals performance. It’s top half bottom half at all BOA events if I’m not mistaken

That drawboard is then used for the finalist order based on top/bottom grouping.

It’s top half bottom half at all BOA events if I’m not mistaken You’re definitely right. The first six bands to perform in finals are the bottom scorers in prelims who made finals. Yes it’s random draw for order but the first six bands are lowest scoring preliminary bands to make finals in random order drawn at the beginning of the competition and the next six are the highest scores in a preliminaries to move onto finals in random drawn order.

DB definitely showed some improvement. Hopefully they can clean up their music more before Grand nats, but the dirt today was probably caused by a lot of kids being absent from the flu. The choir sounded way better and it looks way cleaner visually.

sorry to see River Bluff so far down as they were recently so so good. Also, Popes prelim 17.9 in visual GE really sticks out.

Harrison has really fallen pretty far for their standards. They have the same staff as before… what is going on?

Harrison has really fallen pretty far for their standards. They have the same staff as before… what is going on? I had heard while in Jacksonville that Harrison's school had split either last year or year before. May explain their jump down to 3A from 4A? Can't find anything about it online but that could be a plausible explanation.

Harrison has really fallen pretty far for their standards. They have the same staff as before… what is going on? It’s hard to keep up with the rest of the country when covid and district protocols absolutely WRECKED so many of the Cobb county bands and most of the rest of the country got to have essentially normal marching band in 2020, plus new classes of kids coming in that had middle school on zoom so they lack the fundamentals and are behind what they would’ve been in 2019

Fort Mill schools had a similar issue. The Cary bands even worse. A shame because these are pretty wealthy suburbs with great potential. Seemed like the more rural schools came out better - at least in the southeast.
