Very nice Lincoln-Way! The show is made for this dome.

Anyone else distracted by tarps Lincoln-Way is using? From the high view on the livestream, it makes it very difficult to see the forms. Too much reflection and not enough contrast. You should have seen it flying around in the Iowa wind last month. I don’t know how the idea made it off the drawing board…but I don’t hate it inside. I can totally see the reflection issue, though. It bothered me back in the day with O’Fallon.

That being said, I don't hate tarps on principle, but I'm just not sure what purpose they serve in L-W's show this year.

Seeing Lincoln-Way and Lafayette back-to-back, i think Lincoln-Way has a huge advantage in visual but I definitely preferred Lafayette musically.
Centerville is on the bubble for me. Not a huge fan of the show design this year, although i really liked last year's.

I’m not trying to self promote by linking this…okay, maybe a little. But I’ve written in-depth about this and it might be helpful! generaleffectmedia.substack.com/p/super-who-the-boa-super-regional It’s confusing, but the tl;dr of it is that you want to be the top 5 in your panel. If you aren’t, you aren’t out of finals, but you’ll have to beat every band from the OTHER panel too. The panels are as balanced as possible, but it isn’t out of the question that the 5th place band in one panel may score lower than all of the Next 4 if they all come from the other panel. Honestly, this might be one of the dumbest things BOA has ever done, up there with the 2003 finals debacle of not announcing placements outside of the champion. New-ish leadership, new ways to fail.

Not a huge fan of the show design this year, although i really liked last year's. I was not all that impressed with Lincoln-Way. Overdone staging. Overall, they are in finals, but would be surprised at anything above 6th or 7th.

Wow! Grain Valley! I'd put them above everyone we've seen today except perhaps Mason & Blue Springs! Great job!

How did Centerville do? I can't watch right now because I'm at a football game for college marching band.

GV did a great job performing a show that contained nearly every design thing that I dislike in a marching band show.
But gosh darn they do it really, really well.

There are a lot of the vibrant multi-colored visuals and uniforms this year like GV…but I think theirs is my fave so far. Great show!

I liked the music choices for Franklin, but when you put them all together, it felt a bit confusing and weird transitionally. They sounded pretty good though, although visual might need some cleaning. I think I'd put them on the bubble as well.

Throughout prelims, I’ve been rather silent on my thoughts as they’ve all been said by the rest of you in this thread — but I too have to say that Grain Valley impressed me beyond imagination. I’m feeling bold enough to say there’s a stark difference between STL GV and Indy GV.

Yeah, with the number of excellent bands here this weekend, I don't see them breaking into finals. I love me some Grainger in a marching band show, but following it with Ozzy Osbourne just doesn't feel right.

Uggh. The wide camera person who always zooms in to frame the band when they gather closer together, then keep it zoomed in when the band spreads back apart!

Was hiking this morning so I only caught Blue Springs. I thought They did great this morning. Very clean. Not sure how demand wise they’ll stack up against Avon and Carmel
Looking forward to seeing finals later

I was referring to the High Cam. They zoom in and try to follow the band, but don't always zoom back out.
