It would appear per composition suite that Poteet is actually AAA, they were under this class at the comp they were at yesterday, and CS says they are 3A under MFA which I’m assuming is music for all

So for example, if it had been updated it would look like “Poteet H.S. - TX” and not the current “Poteet H.S. (TX)”.

With 6 finalists and one 13th placed band from the last regional, will all of these bands be able to crack finals again(in the case of Forney, be on the right side of the bubble this time)??😮😮😮

Really don’t like that one of the judges was a visual consultant and had a kid in the Wakeland band as recent as 2019 AND is stating that in the judge’s bio on MFA website.
Doesn’t look good on BOA or Richard Saucedo for assigning him here.

Doesn’t look good on BOA or Richard Saucedo for assigning him here. As recently as FOUR years ago!?! The horrors! It's hard enough to fill adjudication assignments in all the major circuits when judges are not able to work shows that include any bands with which they have a current connection. For example, Evan Hinds, who judged music at Toledo was scheduled to work one of two WBA events in a couple of weeks. A band he designs for was registered for the show that was cancelled due to low enrollment and he was (correctly) removed from the panel of the other one when that band switched. Throw in former connections and we may as well assign trophies based on the volume of the crowd response (from everybody but those who can be identified as being with a particular band).

But we have to keep in mind that the chief judge doesn't participate in scoring the bands. The chief judge is there to aid in avoiding duplicate scores from each judge, to verify that an obvious outlier score was truly the assigning judge's intent (as opposed to a typo/handwriting error), and to consult with the contest director on the assessing of penalties.

I'm just here for that Texas heat We need more light than heat. Speaking of which, as redpants mentioned a few weeks ago: Round about noon on the day of this event there will be a 90% solar eclipse in the area. That has to be a first for a BOA regional, right? An annular solar eclipse will be visible in part of the U.S., including Texas, on October 14. "Annular" means "ring-shaped": this is an eclipse where the moon is a little farther away from the earth than in a total eclipse, and thus the sun's light is not completely blocked but forms a "ring of fire." In San Antonio, the eclipse will be at its fullest, with more than 90% of the sun obscured. In Prosper, it will be seen as a partial solar eclipse with about 80% of the sun blocked. (Only about 40% of the sun's light will be obscured in South Carolina for the Conway show.) The eclipse will peak in Prosper at about 11:52 a.m. CDT. Too bad no band is scheduled to be playing at that point! Prosper will also be on the edge of the path of a total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024. That one will also be visible in Austin, Dallas, Indianapolis, Cleveland, and Buffalo, among other places. If you're anywhere within a few hours' drive of the path of totality for that one, I highly recommend making the trip. A total solar eclipse is a really cool experience. Remember: it's not safe to look at the sun during this eclipse without proper eye protection. (It also won't be safe to look unprotected at next April's eclipse unless you're in the path of totality and even then, only during the few minutes of totality.)

Delayed final predictions!
Keller or Wakeland for the win (though I'd love to see Prosper win the Prosper regional some day!). Hendrickson feeling a little low? I agree. We'll find out! I could also see bands like McKinney Boyd, Forney and Lake Ridge sneaking in. This isn't as deep of a contest towards the top as the previous Dallas regional, but is definitely a deeper contest overall, and I think there will be some surprises, as there have been every weekend!
Best of skill to all groups!
1. Keller H.S., TX 2. Wakeland H.S., TX 3. Prosper H.S., TX 4. Timber Creek H.S., TX 5. L.D. Bell H.S., TX 6. Waxahachie H.S., TX 7. Southlake Carroll H.S., TX 8. Lake Highlands H.S., TX 9. Robert E. Hendrickson H.S., TX 10. Rock Hill H.S., TX 11. Duncanville H.S., TX 12. Keller Central H.S., TX
A 1. Whitesboro H.S., TX
AA 1. Lovejoy H.S., TX 2. Grapevine H.S., TX 3. Poteet H.S., TX
AAA 1. Wakeland H.S., TX 2. Robert E. Hendrickson H.S., TX 3. Forney H.S., TX
AAAA 1. Keller H.S., TX 2. Prosper H.S., TX 3. Timber Creek H.S., TX

Nice first BOA performance Walnut Grove! I fully expect this to be a band on our radar in the next few years/I would go as far to say I bet they will be in the top 32 within the next 3 years. I could be way off, but it seems like the perfect formula for a successful BOA band - affluent community, rapidly growing area, Texas. LOL.
Reminds me of Vandegrift and their rapid growth/rise to prominence a few years back.

In other news, I don't think it is outside the realm of possibilities for Sachse to make finals. It's a tough set of bands to be against, but they are definitely holding their own!
