Someone claimed they were judging in the region this weekend, and just decided not to go because of possible weather issues. Yet all competitions are happening…

Not sure if that guy was supposed to be here. Terrible attitude nevertheless. People don’t read. Check out the conditions in eastern PA. Ah, but there's the rub. People DO read. You posted: Well, that's certainly not a band that I had on my bingo card as EVER coming up to the Chicago area for a show. Not looking super great to get this show in or Naperville on Saturday, as it is supposed to rain all day Friday and like 50% all day Saturday as well. A bsolutely these shows will not happen. I am judging in the region on Saturday and am not making the trip. Several inches of rain -- day and night. This isn't happening. I wouldn't even bother attending with the hope that it clears up. It will not this time. You CLEARLY stated that you were scheduled to judge in the region (although not specifying whether it meant somewhere in the general vicinity of Chicago or the Midwest in general). Equating this region with Eastern Pennsylvania is a stretch like saying England is close to Russia.

Regardless, I am glad the contest was able to take place! Did anyone make it out/how did Lincoln-Way look? I am struggling to decide where to put them in my Indy predictions

I am struggling to decide where to put them in my Indy predictions I really enjoyed seeing their show here yesterday. I felt like they really drove to improve their music quality this year, as that has lacked compared to their visual aspect in the past. Only thing I would say is that it seemed very short? Possibly another part to add, even though their last comp is next weekend at Indy SR? I also just heard that Morton actually scored .5 above LWs exhibition score. So do with that what you will. Overall really enjoyed their show and can’t wait to see what the do next weekend and in the coming years!

76.550 Lake Park 75.650 Marian Catholic Wow. When was the last time Lake Park beat Marian Catholic at a show? Even though it's been a couple of years now, it's still weird not having Marian Catholic as a marching band juggernaut.

Overall really enjoyed their show and can’t wait to see what the do next weekend and in the coming years! What were your thoughts on the rest of 3A? Concord Community-First time seeing this band in person and was impressed by their design and concept. Overall seems like a really good program that just happens to fall in the shadow of Indy powerhouses. I look foreword to seeing them in the future and if they can break into the boa scene! Lockport-Visually stunning as usual, always love their color guard! Personally I felt their show lacked musically, I understand the big design and all of that but they just don't put enough into the complexity and performance of their music. Not to say they are bad, still very strong, just plenty of room for growth. Totally thought they had a strong case for the overall visual caption, but I understand that their drill complexity was no where near that of Morton's. I look foreword to seeing how they finish out the season at ISU next week! Marian Catholic-Really hard to see this band on the decline. However I feel like they are handling this difficult transition quite well, and should feel good going into state next week, despite lemont trailing them by less than a point this weekend. I'm not sure I really love the design but it is definitely interesting, and I can't wait to see how they handle 1A at boa. I feel confident they will find a strong footing in the next few years following the director change! Morton-Definitely deserved the win here. They are consistently the top band musically across the state and even make a strong case against ofallon. I really admire their growth and drive in recent years, despite the director change. Which I must say hasn’t seemed to slow them down one bit. In my opinion they have the most area to grow in their visual, however I feel that they are really working towards that this season. Compared to last year their visual has increased immensely, especially with that closer. I was watching from high up in the stands and just wow, that is some hard drill that they are performing at quite a high level. They are definitely my top pick for state champ next weekend at ISU and I’ll be interested to see how they stack up at boa. Definetly my pick for 2A at St Louis and for right now I’m gonna go with them for class champ at Nats. Exciting season for this band!

Just out of curiosity, where did you hear that Morton scored above LW? Don’t Exhibition bands not share their score? Historically, LW doesn't even like to share exhibition scores from the home show with the rest of LW, so I'd probably take that statement with a grain of salt.

Very true that they don’t typically release scores to the students and band families, however they do share them with staff. Take that however you’d like. Didn’t mean to cause drama, just wanted to share an interesting perspective!

When is the last time a Marian Catholic band had the show completely on the field, before ISU, a month before Nationals. Ever?

Wow. When was the last time Lake Park beat Marian Catholic at a show? Even though it's been a couple of years now, it's still weird not having Marian Catholic as a marching band juggernaut. Just watched a video from Lincoln-Way. It is very rough right now, but, I cannot stress this enough: the entire show is on the field. When is the last time a Marian Catholic band had the show completely on the field, before ISU, a month before Nationals. Ever? You're right, that IS a pretty big deal. So, I'm guessing the new director just has a different approach than Bimm, and is just putting it all out there ready or not. I mean, I've seen Marian at shows before where they only put less than three minutes of it on the field, others schools' parents would get all indignant and cocky about beating them, and no one saw the full show till November and they were announcing them for finals. Putting the whole show out before its cleaned up would definitely result in lower scores early on, but they've got a lot of time left. Maybe not enough to fix it for ISU, but by St. Louis and Indy they could be surprising some people. Oh, and speaking of parents? For the one above, I'm sticking with the grain of salt suggestion
