Mr. Bone did great things for JFB and is already having a big effect on Liberty. And I’m still burned by the Fort Mill days 😂. It took me a while to be okay with the fact that Bob Cotter’s son is a part of the JFB and district 5 staff 🤣🤣 and that is not a joke!

Yes, but I think they should be able to rebound nicely from the split especially with the growth in the area much like Wando did. It was a tossup between 4th & 5th place between them and Byrnes. Byrnes' program has risen and fallen throughout the years winning 7 out of 9 4A SC championships from 94-02. But I am VERY impressed with Catawba Ridge. They made no excuses and created a culture of excellence from the start. They realized that competition sharpened them instead of lesser programs that only chose local competitions that they knew they would win that ended up overinflating the egos of students and parents. Cant wait to see them at Troy! Lol, I mean you might as well just say it out loud. I swear Fort Mill is truly the most hated band in the southeast. We even had a judge at an early season competition my sophomore year tell us “the Fort Mill band is overrated,” on the TAPE. That made us feel real good To be fair, the Alien show in your Sophomore year was not the best. Having an established program in any judged activity can cut both ways. The program can be judged on previous years performances and if the judge feels its not up to the previous standard, then they can be judged more harshly. Also, because of the name of the program, judges can give them the benefit of the doubt and score them higher than they might deserve. Two edged sword, sometimes you benefit and some times you are judge unfairly thus you will see comments like "X" band is overrated. The judge might feel like based on the bands current show and performance, that it is not up to the established standard in people's minds and the program is just getting by on name and reputation. As much as people dont want to admit it, any human judging comes with bias. Thats why it sometimes when you see equal performances from two bands, a known and unknown band, the known band will have the advantage. Which is why its more impressive what Catawba Ridge has done but they do have the advantage of the reputation of Fort Mill bands.

The three time world champion and defending Olympic gold medalist can perform something only 3/4 as impressive as the unknown skater from Albania and receive a MUCH higher score.

I don’t think anyone has mentioned this but, congratulations to Blythewood for their first BOA regional finals performance and highest placement!
They made finals in 2017 at the BOA Jacksonville regional but finals were rained out. (They got 8th in prelims)

I don’t disagree with anything you just said about judge bias. But why would you say it ON THE TAPE?? How flipping rude I mean come on. Cant trust that feedback
