Have to disagree. The use of a flute for the Tuileries oboe solo killed it for me. OK fair enough. To each his own. I just feel that a program of Avon's caliber should ALWAYS have soli performed on the instrument for which it was written. One of Avon's drum majors this year happens to be an oboist. If no other qualified oboist was available amongst the band (doubtful), she could have played that part and I would wholeheartedly agree with your contention that Avon now owns Pictures at an Exhibition (one of my favorite pieces ever composed/transcribed).

I’m not really sure where to put this thought, but for Hebron this year I would have liked them to use “Hero” by Mariah Carey instead of the Prince of Egypt piece and “holding out for a hero.”
I think the Mariah Carey song is more in keeping with the ballad they did last year “After the love is gone,” and that was so effective and beautiful. I kinda think the ballad was a bit of missed opportunity.

Not BOA, but Alabama owns the marching band "rights" to Basket Case by Green Day.
Also college, I always associate the John Williams' Jaws theme with University of Minnesota.
Also college again, you can't separate Southern Cal from Tusk by Fleetwood Mac.
Dobyns-Bennett gets Bernstein's Candide after last year.
Lake Hamilton gets The Arkansas Traveler after last year.
