What does biggest surprise mean? I think for most of us "biggest surprise" would be "what show was unexpectedly strong/successful to me?" The other option would be identifying a band or three that unexpectedly struggled, but most superlatives tend toward the positive.

No shade, just genuinely curious since a few of you have them listed, what was so surprising about Lakota West this year?

No shade, just genuinely curious since a few of you have them listed, what was so surprising about Lakota West this year? Good question! West had a notably impressive win at Obetz over some groups right around their level, and also made their first ever super regional finalist appearance against an arguably very difficult bubble of bands (landing on top of most of those groups). Did they do anything surprising? I can see where that’s argued (arguably more with East since, while they did make super regional finals, there wasn’t much “surprise” to it). So yeah, could honestly go both ways! I thought West had a surprisingly strong season, and I can just as well agree that not much was all that unexpected. It’s all about perspective 😉
