Attending: Lockport Township H.S., IL (calendar) Welp, another finalist spot just opened up for 5A-6A at ISU, unless they're planning on doing both again, which I doubt. What's the point of doing ISU, when you finish 9th there and barely a point out of finals at Indy the same day?

Indy Super has 10 bands waitlisted… I’m curious to know who some of those bands could be. Any guesses?

I'm going to assume since Mustang is confirmed for GN that you can drop them from here? Unless they're secretly hiding a 2nd trip to Indy lol

Maybe I'm dumb but this has always been something that has bothered me. If you're spending the money to make a trip to Indianapolis, especially as an out of state group with a 11 hour drive, why would you not just go to GN? The most obvious thought is a football game or some other obligation that weekend, but if it isn't that (which I don't think it is for Wando) why not GN? My first thought is they know they could make finals at Indy Super and considering how stacked GN is this year and how stacked it was the last time they went and missed out by one spot... nvm I think I answered my own question

Not to say they wouldn't have made finals in 2023 (or even 2022, but that was clearly a state show). Either way they're a bubble band at the moment anyway you cut for GN finals. I do think this Indy super regional is somewhat competition avoidance, but it gears the kids up for a possible GN run the following year or 2026. Hopefully 2025 as they recover some numbers and settle back into a new normal for them. If I were Bobby, I probably would have just gone to GN anyway since I thought they were fantastic last year (just a bit on the smaller side). But I'm sure he knows what's best.

Oh, and to answer your question, Blythewood went to Indy super in 2016 and missed finals by only a few spots. They were really terrific that year ~ Nation Ford only narrowly beat them at 4A State if I remember correctly.

It was a pretty candid conversation. Maybe this is their way of easing themselves back into things?

The Cabinet of Curiosities show was my favorite from ‘21. I was sure it would make finals. We were pulling hard for them at GN’s; JFB has a ton of respect for that program. Hell, Wando carries the state of SC on its back nationally.
