I thought the Indiana Marching website was now defunct. Has a new one been started by HornRank?

Very low participation forum (and terrible design) and very little info beyond basic schedules. Maybe some scattered results but that requires someone to provide them. I appreciate the effort to try and fill the void but they just donโt have the resources to make it useful.

I would be terribly sad if TXBands.com ever went away.

First week out, at least for most and I am excited to see the quantity of class A at LC on Saturday just to see where everyone is starting out! Looking to be an interesting Class A year thatโs for sure! Lots of groups on the rise and sounds like they are pushing hard and changing things up a lot since last season! So ready to see what the year brings

Looks like Center Grove is off the list for the Brownsburg competition - Carmel, Lake Central, Portage, Pike, and Lafayette Jeff are the A bands on the list (reverse order of competition). I heard Portage is back to Scholastic Class this year. This will be interesting to see as they have made 3 Consecutive Semi State appearances in Class A.

I noticed that they did not compete in Scholastic last weekend at Bluffton, rather they competed in Open Class A. Of course, they may have done that to get an evening performance time rather than having to perform in the afternoon. But they would have won Scholastic handily.

Anyone else going to see Brownsburg? I didn't realize Danville was doing festival this year. Anyways. Predictions. Scholastic B Martinsville Scholastic A obviously Pride of the South as they are the only ones in SA. Class D. Monrovia Class C. Edgewood Class B. Greenwood Class A. Carmel. Any one have any other predictions or what to look for?

My prediction is people will overvalue early season scores. For the most part, if a band has lots of their show clean and on the field at this point of the year, they will have a tough time sustaining momentum. However, they will get people excited with good scores.

However, they will get people excited with good scores. Not to hijack the thread, but this is true in Texas as well. This is true pretty much around the nation, is it not? This is why early season scores are often unreliableโbands that design less challenging shows can come out strong with a super clean product, but they plateau there due to the lack of demand in the program. As the season progresses, other groups with more challenging designs will overtake them as they clean.
EDIT: Just noticed the new visual look of quotes! Looks fantastic

Watching the live stream nowโโas a non-Midwesterner, I can't help but be in awe of how strong Indiana is.
Lafayette Jefferson played BEAUTIFULLY! I think they would be a force to be reckoned with if they had just a bit more visual intent. There were some strong images written into the drill, but the motion of getting from image to image looked a bit funky. Strong overarching logic though. I appreciated just how unique their beginning of the show was, taking up the entire Side 1 for about 2-3 minutes!
Pike... why am I not more familiar with them? I'm floored by what they presented. That visual design is STUNNING! It always felt purposeful and intricate without ever feeling convoluted. It plays well with the organic nature of the featured spoken word performer. I don't think they played as beautifully as Lafayette Jefferson, but their show is paced and designed so beautifully that I didn't care. I wish this group was doing a BOA regional!!

I thought Pike has made HUGE strides from where they were a few years ago. The spoken word person is very good.
Lake Central has a lovely sound, but wow - they need to back off the amplification. All their sound comes from the speakers. The show has great potential, though

Everyone is good. Pike had a good show and so did LJ. Portage. WOW. I am a huge Elton John fan and I was amazed. Not only by the Trumpet and the Baritone, but also the Sax Quartet. Much respect for them. They have come along way from 10 years ago.

My son and I made it to Brownsburg in time for Jasper in B. We were both impressed with the sound of their opener that Northview put out with the number of people in the band. We lucked out and found seats midway up at the 50 so we were in a sweet spot for the sound through out the night. Portage stood out to us as one to watch this year as did Brownsburg's exhibition. Loved BBurg's beginning GE with the guard and their overall music flow. Their marching is still a work in progress, but plenty of time to clean and should be contender to make state this year. Always like seeing early shows then watch how bands change / add / improve / rewrite portions by November.
