So I’m assuming this means they’ll be at San Marcos. There's also Midland and Shenandoah so idk True, but San Marcos is much closer.

George Ranch is a bit of a surprise here, used to be a semi-regular BOA San Antonio attendee but stopped going sometime in the late 2010s.

Attending: McNeil H.S., TX (calendar) This isn't the first time McNeil has put multiple BOA dates on their calendar before only settling on one or two. Will be curious to see if Round Rock, San Marcos, St. Louis AND San Antonio holds true down the line. I do wonder if they're competing at Round Rock this time? They usually host without competing.

Confirmed:
Hutto H.S. TX - (Bands of America Austin Regional)
Source: HHS Band Calendar
Drop: Ann Richards School for Young Women Leader, TX - (Marching Stars Rehearsal) Burnet H.S., TX - (EDC Saturday Rehearsal) East View H.S., TX - (Morning Rehearsal)
Source: ARHS, BHS, EVHS Band Calendars
Since Hutto make it (14/15) that are listed in the BOA enrollment it only leaves Veterans Memorial
All of these bands have their full calendar but skip over Sept. 21 Anderson, Bastrop, James Bowie, James Earl Rudder, Louis D. Brandeis, Moe & Gene Johnson, Pflugerville, Stony Point, Tom Glenn, Weiss
All Bands didn't release their calendar or can't find one Chaparral, Gatesville, Manor New Tech, Tom C. Clark

Considering that I can already slot in a class A and a Class AA rep… imagine being the one band that doesn’t perform at night at this regional 😭

Absolutely nothing against the bands competing here, but the addition of the San Marcos regional really stripped some of the prestige from the “Austin” regional. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad there are more BOA contests to serve more students on more weekends, but it’s just not the same seeing some of the usual names missing from the lineup.

The migration of bands to San Marcos rather than Round Rock may have been less pronounced had the weekends been reversed. Some of those bands likely chose the September 28 event over the September 21 event.

Most stacked 15 band regional in history This is my take. 10 very regular finalists are still here. CTJ had already been moving away from this regional a bit. Bowie, Hendrickson and Weiss will be missed though! And of course Dripping Springs after making it back into finals last year.

I wonder how likely it is that any additional bands enroll in this contest at this late date. Is BOA Austin really only going to be represented by 15 bands? If so, I also wonder what the schedule will look like. I know it will be very nice for the preliminaries to finish early in the day to avoid the heat, and then have finals start in the evening after it has finally cooled off a little. This could be ideal for a September 21 Contest in central Texas.

Early predictions, assuming all 15 bands advance to finals. With so much shifting around of staffs between some of these ensembles, there could be a few surprises.

Plenty of downtime after prelims, still plenty of time for finals to not go super late assuming they advance everyone to finals.
