Glad to see Cicero-North Syracuse make finals here!! So few NY bands succeed in BOA anymore––I'm hoping this is the beginning of a new trend for them.
As srv1084 said earlier, I'm so sad to not see Wakefield make finals. I was shocked that vis GE was the thing to hold them out of finals. I have to wonder if 20th place in that caption was really fair. Regardless, this band is one of New England's hidden gems. I hope we'll see them in BOA again next year!
I was also shocked to see Governor Thomas Johnson score so low. I feel like they've typically made finals at the Mid-Atlantic regional the past few years, including their ninth-place finish at the Newark regional last year. Does anyone know much about their program this year?

Regardless, this band is one of New England's hidden gems. I hope we'll see them in BOA again next year! They certainly are! Part of my hesitation to predict them as finalists was due to their show design. I said in another thread about regional differences that the Northeast is kind of stuck in the 90s with regards to show design and programming, and I feel like we kind of saw that here. There just aren't the same level of designs and fully thought out programming in the Northeast, specifically New England. Wakefield's performance capabilities have certainly improved over the past few years and that has been amazing to witness, but I hope they are able to modernize a bit over the coming years and give those students a vehicle that would succeed in this environment. I'm rooting for them, because New England needs more successful programs!

With the results of yesterday's regional, Norwin has now been a regional finalist 71 times, a regional class champion 42 times, and a regional champion 29 times.

This now brings up an interesting question--assuming that Madison and Norwin both choose to attend this regional next year, which one of them will receive the finals prelims performance time?

It's not necessarily the last prelim performance time. Returning champion gets to select the slot they want (see Tarpon Springs in first block at Orlando). This may be where GE tiebreaker matters or both bands may get to request a slot.

I meant assuming that both bands want the final prelims spot (which I think they both will) I think it would be by General Effect. We’re not really sure. Like I said this is setting precedents and we’ll not be sure what happens until next year. There’s a chance only one band returns we can’t know. It’s all in the air

Based on what I'd seen, I really was surprised that Rock Ridge got 10th. They had a much better ensemble music sound than many of the bands that placed above them. Although, their programs are very safe, I really could've seen them in at least 7th place.

It's been updated in BOA's recap, but I haven't seen any acknowledgment that a mistake was made. I'm sure they'll send an apology note and another trophy to Norwin. I saw on social media a while back and forgot to post about it. Eric martin went to Norwin to apologize for the mistake that evening. They posted a video of him talking to the band and one of him speaking to all of the people in attendance at the football game. Very nice of him to go out there.
