I didn’t see any performances, but I’m genuinely shocked at Goshen not being in Finals. I would have thought them to be a top 5 or 6 candidate.

How does Carroll have the second highest score but didn’t place in prelims? Nobody knows if they have the second highest score.

They must have been 4th in 4A, probably 4th overall

Biggest shock for me is Decatur Central being in the top 5! My biggest pet peeve when it comes to show themes are Patriotic shows and Christmas shows. I’m just not a fan. I am happy for them though. IMO definitely puts them in ISSMA Class A finals discussion... and near the top of the bubble!

My finals predictions are as followed:
1. Lincoln Way 2. Centerville 3. Fishers 4. Decatur Central 5. Lakota West 6. Carroll 7. Ben Davis 8. Henry Clay 9. Walled Lake Central 10. Beechwood
Captions: Music - Centerville Visual- Lincoln Way GE - Lincoln Way
I was shocked to see centerville get GE over Lincoln Way and with them going back to back I feel the judges will get to be able to compare the two groups better. I have a feeling these to groups will be the top 2 but can easily be flipped. My prediction is they will be within a half of a point from each other.
(I expect my predictions to be wrong lol)

I'm confused as you are too. I'm thinking Goshen got slapped with a penalty or finished really close to finals. I have no idea where the state finals window falls at this point. Looks like Tim gets the upper hand on his brother this time (and if I'm not mistaken, this is literally the first time ever. I can't remember a time where Decatur Central managed to beast Goshen). I do notice, however, Decatur Central thrives in a BOA environment much more than ISSMA. I noticed way back in 2016 at Indy Super that Decatur Central were finishing higher than where I would typically had placed them. They made Class B state finals, but finished 9th that year. I feel they had the potential to finish higher with the show they had, but I wasn't surprised to see them knocked so far down. Really, the informal rule I have is that Decatur Central's performance levels, while sub-standard in ISSMA, are sufficient enough in BOA to let show design carry them a bit more. This isn't a knock on Decatur on all (especially when they seem to be reversing expectations this year). I honestly don't know where the bands fall at this point.

How is the title of Fishers' show spelled? Is it "Candied Sweet"? Or "Candide Suite"? Either way, it's the best so far, although notably incomplete. It’s Candide Sweet

With Decatur, they do compete in BOA AAA vs ISSMA Class A.
I know it shouldn’t matter, but it is a judged competition which inherently has perception and bias.

Henry Clay and Goshen are no slouches- beating them is no joke. Not to mention finishing in top 5 (!!). I don't know how well they'll transfer over back to ISSMA because of the scenario I mentioned, again, but this regional is huge for Decatur Central. This is not worth shrugging off.

I wasn’t shrugging it off. It is a great result for them. I also think they are very good. Being a fringe Class A ISSMA state finalist helps them when they compete in AAA BOA. Their state competition peers push them to up their game and when they get to BOA they aren’t as overshadowed perception-wise. There is a reason they chose to drive 4 hours north to Chesterton for regionals as opposed to 20 minutes to Center Grove.

Seriously, though, Decatur Central may get bumped up to the state contender depending on where the other bands were during the regional (fully complete, half-complete, etc.).

I think we'll miss the rain thankfully.
Fishers changed a lot of stuff from their exhibition performance last week for sure. Props added, color guard outfit switch, and the music performance was stronger. So I'll attribute the exhibition run as just a bad run for them. They need to make sure they always perform though because this isn't a game you can ever slouch. Someone is always going to be on your heels waiting to jump you.

Overall I’m still not sold on the show or all the hype they were getting early this season. It just doesn’t seem to be a top 3 ISSMA Class A show to me.

As ever, I struggle to make sense of BOA scores. Lakota West earned a 75 in Prelims at Toledo on Oct. 1, 2016. I watched this afternoon's performance, said to myself: this is at least three points better than that was, and predicted they'd get a 78. But in Finals tonight, they got a 71, and I presume today's Prelims score was close to that.
Sigh.
