Interested in seeing the judges panel. Is that listed anywhere beforehand? Music: Joseph Allison, Ed Argenziano, Brad Huneycutt, and Steve Kuske. Visual: JR Carlisle, Kim Corney-Kuhn, and Phil Madden. They’re more often than not posted on the individual competition pages on the main HornRank site.

That was by far my favorite Lafayette show of all time, and I've been around since the 90s. They were absolutely phenomenal tonight.

This is quite an interesting competition. Without the usual SC heavy hitters (Byrnes, Fort Mill, Nation Ford, Wando) this definitely leaves some open spots but there are a lot of decent hungry bands here eager to make a big splash. With two weeks of competitions I can now make at least an educated guess: In this order for finals DB, TN Kennesaw Mountain, GA Lafayette, KY Bassett, VA Easley, SC Green Hope, NC White Knoll, SC Cleveland, NC York, SC Ardrey Kell, NC (I think they finally make it in) Just out in this order: Ninety Six, Dutch Fork, Mooresville, Chapin, Hardin Valley, Marvin Ridge This was the most accurate educated guess I have ever seen. Missed just one band and Estill County snuck in there on ya. Would you care to Express your thoughts about Estill with this being their 1st appearance in a BOA competition.

Missed two actually Estill and Mooresville 😊 I thought they had a huge sound and great effect. The quality isn’t quite at the top half of this regional but it’s close.

My only predictions are a big margin from 3 to 4 (yeah bold on my part) and some substantial movement after that. But if the judges are same who knows maybe not.

Last year, it was Fishers. This year, it was KMEA. Every year, I say something that bites me.
Congratulations to Lafayette! Clearly, I was too quick to count them out.

DB’s show is hard and has a good bit of dirt left. They seem to start their season very slow nowadays. I remember once someone said they don’t do very few local shows because the feedback they get is nill. I wonder if starting later has had an effect on them not cleaning until later...

The judges definitely went a little overboard, and it wasn't just for the top 5 or the finalists bands, it was the whole field.

Lafayette delivers an upset. WOW. Lafayette, KY won regionals in 1996 and 1997. Last night marks their third regional win with a gap of 22 years since their last win. 22 years is the largest gap between regional titles. In addition to Lafayette, Clovis West (CA) has a 22 year gap between regional wins; 1988 to 2010.

Agreed... I find it doubtful KM will lose to Lafayette. They weren’t even the GN finalist level band they used to be in 2014 LOL (still don’t know how they made finals then.) but yeah they’re still good enough, I’d be surprised if they lost to Lafayette for sure. Lafayette has defeated North Hardin, KY to win KMEA AAAAA state finals each of the last two years by more than two points. Last year, North Hardin scored slightly higher than Kennesaw Mountain at Grand National semi-finals. I know it's often folly to compare judging between circuits, but I think you're going to be surprised. SURPRISE!

I'm not sure that it's that these judges went overboard. I think the Orlando judges deflated scores a lot. Wando, Broken Arrow, and Tarpon Springs don't receive less than an 85 unless it's September. Based on what I saw last night in the stadium, I have no problem with Lafayette and Dobyns-Bennett receiving an 88. Also in response to marimba11 about Bassett, Bassett's ensemble scores were great. It's the individual scores which are hurting them and having been on the ground yesterday, I think that's appropriate. They have a death by 1000 pricks problem right now. It's also worth noting that half of their band is grades 7-9 and they were honestly not very good about two weeks ago. If they improve in the next month as much as they have in the last two weeks, they'll be in great shape for GN.

I think at least two points higher all around would be pretty accurate. That’s awesome you got to go to this show I bet it was awesome. Bassett music book is so clever this year.

Estill County has been consistently rising. They should make Semi's at Grand Nationals barring they aren't hosed because of the two panel thing. I have yet to see a video of them from this year. But the last 4 or 5 years they have just excelled!

I was quite shocked at this result honestly. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see any BOA shows yesterday, I have seen a video of Lafayette and was just ehhh. I'd love to see them in person. That just might happen too! Moreover, I am not only impressed they beat DB..but at their score! This shows they should be the clear front runner for AAAAA in KMEA this year.
