Congrats Avon!! Second sweep in GN history? I haven't been good at my stats this weekend! Didn't Carmel get the first true sweep a few years back? Carmel “swept” in 2017 by winning Visual and GE outright and tying Music with Broken Arrow. In 2018, Carmel won all 3 captions outright. 2022 as well

Once in the 21 years I've been following the activity closely, and that was the Richard Saucedo retirement victory tour. 2005, 2006,2009,2010. Avon and Carmel both skipped ISSMA finals in 2017

What a true disappointment, I am glad to be done with this "judged" activity/sport. I have really enjoyed the variety of music and shows that have been performed, but not the drama and disappointment these kids endure because one judge has a difference in taste than their directors do... I hope everyone enjoys the games that are played. Congratulations to all of the schools on their achievements, but I'm out of this chasing someone's imaginary score game!

Campbell County 48th? God the field was deep this year. 47. 47 is the number of bands that scored an 80 or higher. Jeez. it’s not even the placement it’s the score, I don’t think anyone looked at Campbell at grand nats and said that’s a 79.5 band Hard to believe Campbell's score only rose by two points from the Obetz regional (with an incomplete show) to Grand Nats.

Would love for Carmel and Avon to come down to SASR on a rotation! If grand nats really is harder, why not add some hardware and get more comments? Because their state finals are the same weekend. Will Texas bands skip UIL SMBC to go to a BOA event out of state? Didn't think so. CTJ in I think 2019 and The Woodlands in 2021 come to mind that skipped UIL state go to Grand Nationals.

Went into this season a professional avon glazer, came out a professional avon and Carmel glazer. I’ll never get over the fact that these two opposite programs that are so successful in their own style are so close to each other. Truly the best bands in the nation

But without a direct comparison to Hebron, Vandegrift, Flower Mound, Marcus, and Vista Ridge, no way to really call it. Has anyone mentioned how cool it would be to see Avon and Carmel go down to San Antonio in the same year, and really compete for all the marbles? I think that would be a lot of fun.

Also, is there a way they can make Final Retreat/Awards not as long? We aren't crowning a Champion until Sunday Morning. Absolutely ridiculous

Probably as good a thread as any on Horn Rank to post this since the season has wrapped…
Now that our daughter has completed her final Marching Band performance for Bentonville High School, this is likely my last sappy post on Horn Rank, for what it’s worth. 😁
As all band parents are, I could not be more proud of our talented and dedicated kids in this BHS program. I never knew about marching band competitions until our daughter started four years ago as a Freshman. I immediately fell in love with the shows from all of the bands. What you kids do in every band program is extraordinary and, at the risk of overstepping, I am proud for all of you. I am well aware of the sacrifices you make to perfect your performances so thank you, thank you!!!
To the Bentonville Pride band members, it is has been a wonderful four years watching the strides you have made. From the powerful ‘Opus’ to the fun ‘Lady’ to the joyful ‘Sunflowers’ to the profound ‘Black Sheep’, you have made a mark on the arts of marching band. While the program is about the process, the dedication, and the humility, it is hard to resist the results of your performances. Building on being a Grand Nationals finalist last year, you doubled down and went out there to medal against awesome competition in Texas, St. Louis and Arkansas State 7A, winning State for the sixth year in a row in record fashion. I told my daughter that it is super impressive to have a Senior season that you were only exceeded in competition by four bands; by Marcus and Wakeland at Prosper by only 1.25 (winning GE in finals) and by Blue Springs and Broken Arrow at St. Louis SR by only 2.35. You represented Princess Diana well with this amazing show. You should be very proud of yourselves. I can hardly wait to watch from afar as you continue to compete with the giants of Marching Band. Thank you for bringing the Joy. Love y’all!
And thank you to Mr. Hendrix and Mr. Shewmaker and to all of the staff and band parents for taking such great care of our kids in this special program. You are fostering the development of future leaders in our society which is the greatest gift of all. Forever grateful.
Finally, to Horn Rank members, thank you for making us feel welcome in this fantastic band community. I have really appreciated learning from each of you. Kids are watching us on here and 99.9% of the time you set a great example of social media conduct, aside from the occasional sappy Band Dad post.😏
Thank you for reading, BvilleBandDad ❤️

A lot of fun, sure, but also risky in their eyes. Avon or Carmel coming down and ending up ~5th at BOASA is a realistic, though unlikely, possibility. That would be embarrassing for them and would only confirm what Texans already think about Texas programs.

New Jersey bands would destroy all of your states, I mean our presence send shivers down everyone's back, knees to buckle, babies screaming, lips chapped, cases of vertigo, nose bleeds. You guys are lucky we don't go down to San Antonio and give you guys a real fight.

If you're talking about Carmel in 2002, that was before San Antonio became a super regional. And it was over two decades ago. It still had a lot of powerful Texas bands like Cypress Falls, Ronald Reagan, The Woodlands, The Colony, L.D. Bell, Westfield, Harlingen, Colleyville Heritage, Winston Churchill, Haltom, Richland, Leander, Spring, James Bowie, and more, so it doesn't matter if it wasn't called a "Super Regional," and Carmel still beat them back then.

Over two decades, bro. Edit: it's still a feather in thier cap, but it's a very old feather. I know it was two decades ago. I'm just stating a fact Carmel won the San Antonio Regional back in 2002 with a lot of powerful Texas band at its time which was quite impressive. I'm not even saying Carmel could or could not beat the top Texas bands in present time.

They won visual but didn't medal, they got 4th with a .225 difference between them and 2nd place. Then ended up getting 3rd at Grand Nationals.

These Leander kids are clearly just relaxing and having a BLAST with this final run. I am so absolutely thrilled for this group! I know they've had a rough(er) few seasons and I bet tonight just feels like icing on the cake for all the work they've done. thank you for your continued encouragement of all the bands Jake. It does not go unnoticed!
