Kind of a sad day for the Harrison bands. I thought they would be able to rebound but I guess it wasn’t enough Agreed. This was my biggest surprise with the finalists. I felt pretty confident they were in after that semis run. Will be interesting to see the recaps. They’ll be back in finals in the future; it’s just too bad they don’t attend more frequently. They gave a great semis run I thought! Kudos to them I loved the show

More disappointing, is Harrison Band Boosters being able to"reserve" section 240 for semi finals . Two security people were standing by and telling people is was reserved. Not that I sit there for semis, but I'm my opinion, am absolutely rubbish thing to do. Maybe Karma was present today.

I’m not sure how Harrison not making finals would be karma for the described situation. The Harrison kids had nothing to do with that... And based on the number of parents from larger bands I saw sitting together over flomarching, I assume reserving entire sections is a common thing to do among bands with large booster organizations.

That’s not exactly what happened. Because of how individual and group tickets sales are structured (one through ticketmaster and one not through ticketmaster), the reserved seating in semifinals (300s and 400s level) was accidentally oversold. To resolve this issue, they decided to make the next best place 240 part of that reserved seating and that happened to be where Harrison’s block got assigned.

Honestly I think that Byrnes should have made finals. They had an awesome run and it was something magical... Either way they Atleast should’ve been top 20

If it makes you feel any better, the school just moved to 4A this year, so their participation is growing. That's why the came back from their hiatus this year. They do plan to participate more often again, and theyll be bigger and better the next time they're at nats! The school itself added a new building over the last year and a half including an all new auditorium and new band practice rooms as well. Hopefully a great stepping stone towards even more band participation!

Some interesting mus GE ranks in the semis.
Homestead were 3rd from one judge (19.2), 11th from the other (17.95). Ayala were 9th (18.6) / 20th (16.95) Round Rock were 15th (18.0) / 4th (19.2).
Finals were pretty consistent between the two judges in this category. I have no quibble about how any of this turned out, but I do have much to learn about how judging works.

And that’s why MGE has two judges lol, it’s supposed to be an average of the two is the “correct” score. Kinda insane because it makes up 30% of the total score. But as you said I wouldn’t probably change much from what the judges decided. As far as GN judging goes I’d say this was definitely one of the better ones compared to recent years. Although I would have had Harrison higher in music

How many years now has Avon had a top three finish and have not won? I feel bad for the kids, they're always so close to pulling gold.

I know the "ties allowed for first place" rule was written in after they were announced in second one year, but that's still bull#### to this day. The fact that ties for wins wasn't allowed to begin with is absurd.

I was amazed to see Miamisburg's score in prelims beating North Hardin, Marion Catholic, Centergrove, etc...and then to see how they did in semi's, Compared to how they did in Mid States Band Championships'....of course open class verses 2A....

Hah! I was wondering how they pulled that off and what it'd be like to be the pinball.
Also, this is what I thought Tilt was going to be before it debuted. I see Byrnes pays homage with the tilted field border in purple.
