Super stoked for this since I go to college in this city. Hopefully they'll have a stronger season than last year, but I don't see them making finals quite yet.
Edit: Also (if my memory serves me correctly), this is the first Abilene-area band to go to a BOA competition.

Mustang will be a finalist at this contest, undoubtedly, unless they have an extremely down year. What do we think their ceiling is with the bands currently announced?

They have to compete with Vista Ridge, Timber Creek and Wylie East (right now I’d say those are the top 3 out of those announced).

This is turning into quite the contest. Don't forget that Summit and Mansfield both made finals at 6A area B UIL last year, which is a very competitive contest- although it follows a different scoring scale. Burleson Centennial should never be overlooked, and their showing this past week once again shows us what they are capable of. Martin has been one of the first few bands out of DFW finals for the past several years and is a huge contender for a medal now in my opinion. Mustang doesnt often conpete against these groups but is really proving themselves in the Oklahoma band scene. I dont think I need to say much about Timber Creek or Vista Ridge. On top of that, there should be several great local groups returning. Midland Lee and Lubbock-Cooper were great surprises for me last year.
Look at me writing a novel about a contest 6 months out!

I wouldn’t count out Wylie East, either. They got the bronze last year, and won AAA. With Vista attending, a gold medal in class won’t happen, but are easy contenders for 2nd and maybe a top 5 overall finish depending on who else is going. They are a rising powerhouse and should be watched closely.

I was more responding to the previous post saying that there will be lots of conpetition for what will likely be 3rd place. Wylie East had probably my favorite show here last year, even over Coppell and Timber Creek. We will see if they can keep progressing even more next year!

Way too early finalist and class champ predictions.
Burleson Centennial H.S., TX Clovis H.S., NM Del Rio H.S., TX Granbury H.S., TX James Martin H.S., TX Mansfield H.S., TX Permian H.S., TX Timber Creek H.S., TX Vista Ridge H.S., TX Wylie East H.S., TX
A: Pecos H.S., TX AA: Lubbock-Cooper H.S., TX AAA: Clovis H.S., NM AAAA: Vista Ridge H.S., TX
Vista Ridge takes all. Likely looking at a Vista, Timber Creek, Clovis, Wylie East, and Mansfield (?) top 5? Wylie East isn’t messing around and are likely looking to go somewhere rather... grand... in the next couple years. I think big things are in store for them.

I'm almost certain BC will be considered Class AAA and VR will be back up to AAAA. Looking at official enrollment numbers, VR missed the AAAA cutoff by less than 10 students and the freshman class was significantly larger than the others. My predictions for class are: A: Pecos H.S., TX AA: Lubbock-Cooper H.S., TX AAA: Clovis H.S., NM AAAA: Vista Ridge H.S., TX

My predictions are the same as yours, in that case. Though I do think Wylie East could have a shot at that AAA title, too. Time will tell.

I didn’t know that about Vista Ridge either. Are we sure that they will be considered a 4A band by BOA standards this fall? What about Leander?

I'm not sure, but I knew VR was cutting it close and the enrollment checker (https://rptsvr1.tea.texas.gov/adhocrpt/adste.html very handy tool) confirms my suspicions. It was the same website I used last year when speculating Rouse's drop to AA (remember that from txbands?). Leander is still looking to be comfortably within AAA and speaking of Rouse, it's looking like they'll be back in AAA this year.

Of course another High School is being built within a few years, so Rouse will probably go back down again for awhile. Crazy growth out here!
