Should see a lot of Illinois bands at Indianapolis. Illinois State University Marching Band Championship is the weekend before, and the University of Illinois Marching Band Championship is the week after.

North Hardin is a possibility here, but it’s all depending on if they drop their state circuit (again) or not.

Prediction: 1. Carmel 2. Avon 3. Blue Springs OR Homestead Blue Springs over Homestead. New director and all the other stuff we’ve talked about with Homestead going against an up-and-coming group that continues to impress and test new waters. I’ll take the latter. If Blue Springs doesn’t attend.....

Or, even Fishers over Homestead... Stop that. To be fair, this is not a stretch at all. Fishers was 13th in semis at GN's last year. Their music program has arguable already eclipsed Homestead. Guard certainly has. With the changes going on up North is it really a wild thought to think that Fishers could come out on top between these two this Fall? I think it's inevitable given the relative situations these schools are in, it's really just a question of when.

Fishers has been on the rise for several seasons, and nearly broke into finals last year. That trajectory should take them above Homestead within the next few seasons, if not this year.

It might take a year or two to iron out, and we'll see who gets the assistant job, but I truly think Homestead will become a much larger voice nationally under Bryen Warfield. I know a bit about him, and he is the young energy & fresh ideas that this old-guard program has been trying to integrate over the last few years in particular. The program is ripe for growth, and Warfield is taking over a program with terrific foundations laid that is just itching to take the next step forward. That said, I firmly believe Fishers will join Homestead as a sustained national name as well. Every ingredient is present for a bonfire, and those ingredients are already being kindled. In the next few years, I think both programs will arrive as top-level forces to be reckoned with.

Everything about that situation just screams...INEVITABLE SUCCESS. Upper middle class growing suburban area, fantastic parent support and enthusiasm for the program. Fishers itself is already over 3000 students I think and I believe that HSE schools is open enrollment meaning that students can choose between Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern. If you're a serious band kid where are you going? Fisher is beefing up staff. I think Saucedo has been doing the music. They mean business and they have the re$ources to make it happen. This isn't my usual "woe is Homestead" thing. Leave them out of it for now. I'm not going to predict Fisher to reach the Carmel/Avon tier. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. But I guarantee they'll reach the Homestead level, and it may well be this season.

I think that we will see both Fishers and Homestead grow in the coming years, but right now I would put my money on Fishers for the reasons you listed above. We have seen this before with other top programs in the state (Avon, Carmel, Homestead). The resources are there and the perfect storm is building at Fishers. I would not be surprised if we see them at the very top in Indiana within the next 5 seasons if not before. Homestead this upcoming season is such a major unknown. They could stumble and fall or they could come out of the gate on fire. We just don't know. My gut says that Fishers will eclipse them this season but I will make my official prediction once I see what Homestead has to offer. I think September comps will be a major indicator. Will they hit week one like usual? Will they head back down to Fishers to see some stiff competition? Are they going to travel anywhere else outside of their norm? If they do I will be excited. If the seem to be laying low I will be worried.

They have publicly put out their Oct/Nov schedule uncharacteristically early, not that there is much drama in that but they usually don't actually post it. But September has not been posted. If there's nothing substantial there (no BOA, nothing beyond Bluffton or something) I'm with you...I'll take that as a sign that we ought not expect a lot this year.
