Not a big fan of Green Hope's show, but I appreciate the Coldplay

The difficulty in DB’s show is just insane. Cleveland is great, but they’re no DB musically

Not impressed with DB's brass section at all...very crass.

The difficulty in DB’s show is just insane. Cleveland is great, but they’re no DB musically [br,] I don't think Cleveland is even as good as Green Hope musically as a group but they're clever with their soloists and small ensembles to optimize their musicality. That show really emphasizes their many strenghts and doesnt overexpose their underwhelming brass.

Not impressed with DB's brass section at all...very crass. I feel like they always sort of sound that way though... it’s almost kind of a stylistic choice I feel

I have got to think that there were some penalties given to John Champe. The drop off between 9 and 10 is HUGE

I really don’t agree with Cleveland taking GE, obviously the music panel moved to finals and kept their thoughts the same. But nevertheless congrats to them I hope they continue their success

Cleveland was ok. I thought they had decent design. Cleveland really resonated with these judges in a way they didn't two weeks ago without a lot changing. The whims of judging! The placements here were spot on in my opinion in finals. My only quibble had been PC over Green Hope in prelims. The margins are fascinating and would seem to imply Cleveland would contend for finals if they went to Nationals and that is not something I would have perceived. But this band might be the resurrection of West Johnston if they keep their momentum (they actually draw kids that years ago would have been WK kids).

Yeah I meant Cleveland would stand a good chance at semis, but beyond that I’d bet nothing. Also how does DB lose visual GE to Cleveland? Just curious what others think about that. How much more does DB have to march and play ? Their guard is awesome too. Confused

However, Madison and Cleveland were very close in performance quality and design imo--there should not have been a two point spread between the two. Either one could have beat the other and I would have agreed with it. It's worth noting if you change Madison's outlier Mus GE1 score to be 2nd or 3rd place, them and Cleveland become much closer. Madison seems to be in good shape for Grand Nationals. Panther Creek too, to be honest (this regional was somewhat stacked). Hopefully Cleveland will come out some time soon!

Yeah, having been there and watched all of the top seven, I probably would have had it:
Dobyns-Bennett James Madison Cleveland Panther Creek Bassett Green Hope Boiling Springs
James Madison is really, really good. It is quite literally astounding how far that group has come since the 2013 Winston-Salem Super Regional. I think they're going to be in the top 22 at nationals in a few weeks.

I very much agree with this assessment. Honestly agree with James Madison too, I wouldve had them second.. They can definitely play with the Cary bands if not play better! It really is CRAZY how far they’ve come. Their show is beautiful and that ballad.... whoa emotional

As I said earlier, my only quibble was that I felt the musical demand was relatively modest. But they executed it beautifully.
