I very much agree with this assessment. Honestly agree with James Madison too, I wouldve had them second.. They can definitely play with the Cary bands if not play better! It really is CRAZY how far they’ve come. Their show is beautiful and that ballad.... whoa emotional I thought James Madison had a clearly better sound than the NC bands. As I said earlier, my only quibble was that I felt the musical demand was relatively modest. But they executed it beautifully. I agree with this. The judges definitely had to decide how they were going to weight content vs achievement. But I feel, as do many others, that the most difficult thing by far for an ensemble to do is to create a beautiful sound, which Madison did way better than any other band there except for Dobyns-Bennett (although even then I thought it was close). Ensemble sound is more important to me than any technical passages a band may have.

Panther Creek is also losing an assistant director to a smaller school in Virginia. I didn't catch this at the time... but it's so weird to have someone I GRADUATED WITH being referenced on the HornRank forums. Ah, the years go on.
That smaller school has had some luck in the local circuit. They have money. They could be something real in a few years.
