I wanted to gather as much information on this as possible. I heard something in another thread about wando splitting into an AA school? That must be scary for places like Marian, North Hardin, Miamisburg and Jenison.

Wando will remain 4A, but smaller, and the new school will be 2A.

That doesn’t sound good. After Wando 2018, should Tarpon be scared? They were right behind them all season.

None of this really answers the questions that will matter. Will each school have their own band, or will they do a PCEP/LT and continue to have a single unit? If they truly split, who will be running the programs? I'd assume that Lambert would remain with Wando along with Michael Gray. Who takes over the new school? One of the current associates? What sort of staff would they have? Does Gray work with both schools? How large are the resulting groups?
One would think that Wando itself will be fine, with possibly a smaller enrollment at the outset. Who knows about the new school.

This article suggests the new school will have its own music department and marching band, but will probably take a few years to really build up in size. It also sounds like Wando may get a little smaller but not significantly. I am assuming Bobby Lambert will remain at Wando which suggests they will still be an awesome band. I am not a South Carolinian so I am not totally in the loop on this, just posting some of the articles that have been on line about the split.

With the new school opening with only 9th and 10th graders it will still be a year or two before the full impact on Wando is apparent. Still, I don't expect them to experience much of a drop in quality, in fact they might manage to get even cleaner with a little bit smaller ensemble.
