Hollister, MO 2020 “To See The Sky” featuring the music of Richard Saucedo, Train, and Jocelyn Hagen.
Hollister is a small class A band in the Branson area. They’re very ambitious, competing in San Antonio this past year and placing 3rd in A (FWIW, there are very few A bands that compete in this competition, so it’s much less packed than AAAA). They’ve also made the trip to Dayton with one of the only Winter Winds groups in Missouri.
You might have recognized them at SA- they were wearing the Vista Ridge 2018 uniforms.

I'd love to hear someone play the Arcade Fire version or the version by A Giant Dog (which isn't all that different from the Arcade Fire version but I still like it). It'd take a song that quite a few bands have already played and make it a bit more fresh.

It might be, but sadly everyone tries to do it just like Vanguard and it just doesn't have the same effect.

Is My Body Is A Cage the new Hymn of Acxiom? Arcade Fire PLEASE. The Gabriel version is lovely and all, but what makes the Arcade Fire original so freakin' awesome is the sudden wall of sound that lasts for 2+ minutes. Such a mind-blowing moment in the song. I know SCV references the Gabriel, but I really appreciated how much SCV managed to write in that wall of sound. Unfortunately, SCV's build-up doesn't really get the emotional payoff that Arcade Fire gets after a ridiculously slow burn, which really puts a bit of a damper on the song overall for me. I know, I know, 10 minute show, 3 minute ballad, yada yada- Arcade Fire's version is just so ingrained in my mind that I really can't hear the song any other way. While we're at it, I beg any designer reading this post to do a bloody Arcade Fire show. I want just one with Arcade Fire music. Sprawl II, The Suburbs, In the Backseat, Neighbor 1, Everything Now, Headlights Look Like Diamonds, even The Woodland National Anthem! (That's an actual song!). Neon Bible and The Suburbs are practically begging to be arranged onto the field with some amazing music content overall (The Well and the Lighthouse, Ocean of Noise, Black Mirror, Intervention off the top of my head for Neon Bible). Even just one song can be enough to launch an entire show concept- I've already seen The Well and the Lighthouse and Ocean of Noise as potentially strong shows. Seriously, I would die for an Arcade Fire show. Whatever the $$$ is for the copyright, it's 100% doling out. (I know I'm saying this without any concept of pricing for arranging a piece, but I can dream right?)

I loved when the Blue Knights played Hide and Seek! If that’s the song they use, it’ll be beautiful. It has the same kind of feel as Hymn of Acxiom, and I’ve been seeing a few groups do that one recently. So excited to see this show! I wouldn't be surprised at all if Hide & Seek was the song used because it's super recognizable and translates to the field well, but Imogen Heap has a song titled First Train Home that seems like it could work for this show! I have a feeling it’s Neglected Spaces. That song is literally written through a house’s point of view through time.

That’s cool. I bet the parents will love it, right age bracket haha. I can’t think of the last time a competitive program has done an 80s tune. I find that decade so cheesy!

I’ve noticed that particular Cyndi Lauper piece used a lot in marching band over the years.

If you ever listen to the radio (which I don't do very often) it is pretty evident that some of the styles of 80s pop music are returning to popularity again. I've thought on multiple occasions that the song I was listening to had to be from the 80s, but after looking it up found out it was brand new.
The "80s" are very "in", not just in music, but in like clothing styles and such.

I haven’t watched Camden ton in a few years, but I feel like they’ve leaned into to more pop than a lot of schools. It’s just not really my thing. I love seeing a lot of classic rep though. Hopefully they’ve got a good pianist who will be featured!
