Ok... here goes nothing. Everyone knows how the typical elimination games to pass time work. This one is much different. It’s barely even an elimination game! Until Feb. 18, 2020, everyone that wants to will comment two nominees they think should be in the running for ballad of the year (only TWO!) Then, when the game starts I will put them into a a list, then generate two random ones. It will be played in rounds. I will post the two bands of that round and each person will have until the afternoon of the NEXT day to comment who they want to win. The band with the most votes moves on and is safe (for a while). In the case of a tie, BOTH bands will move on. We will continue until there is only one! Good luck!!!!! I chose to do this now because I personally enjoy it more when we have two games at once (like last time), but I’ve waiting on this because I thought three was to much. This game could go by in a week or take 6 months, but I’m fine with either!
My 2019 nominees for Ballad of the Year are:
Vandegrift (TX) Blue Springs (MO)

I've thought about this exact setup several times but felt it would be too much work on my part if I started it Is there a limited # of spots or will every band that is commented be included?

If we could pick different years I would say Vista Ridge 2017 and Leander 2016. But I know we can't. So nevermind.

Is there a way to put a poll in? I think that would work much better and would organize if more. Maybe a question for @jeremiah That would be easier. How do you tag people in posts so they can see? Just did it on the computer. You have to hover over someones name and then it comes up.

This took me a long time to decide, as I love some good ballads. In my opinion, some of the best ballads come from some of the lesser known groups, but it is hard for me to find the ones that stood out to me back in November right now. So here are my choices:
Vista Ridge (TX) LD Bell (TX)
If I could nominate a third, it would be Waxahachie. I loved their unique ballad and their fantastic trumpet soloist. I also really liked Prosper's ballad.
I couldn't find a good recording of LD Bell, unfortunately, but I remember it being one of my favorite moments of the entire season for some reason. I think Bell's music was just arranged really well this year.

What I may have to do is find a polling website, drop the link in this thread, and we could just vote on there!

I wish that more people had submitted groups (particularly groups that I disagreed with) because this is going to be really hard to decide from top to bottom. Every group on that list was fantastic.
