SFA was apparently very strong musically but the score doesn’t show, however their third visual isn’t surprising considering they got second to Reagan in prelims at Houston.

This is regional win number 17 for Broken Arrow. They have won the St Louis regional every year since 2007, except 2012 when they did not attend. 14 of their 17 regional titles have been consecutive. So yes, the last 14 BOA regionals that Broken Arrow has attended they have won. In addition to the St Louis regionals, this includes Atlanta in 2013 and Orlando earlier this season. The last time Broken Arrow has not won a BOA regional was way back in 2006. That is impressive.

What's amazing is they lost a BOA regional with their best show!
*chaos ensues*

I'll probably be one of last people to say this but I get chills every time I listen to Camdenton's show! I'm very sad that they are not moving on to Grand Nats they would be one heck of a force to reckon with. Great year for them!

This contest seems to get harder and harder every year.so many groups that would have made finals had it been any other year that didn’t.
Some surprises to me- Bixby not making finals. I really don’t understand how this happened. Their show was so well executed and they barely missed it after making it every year they had attended previously.
Rosemount, while being a great group, managed to come into this contest without super clean drill and a lot of musical problems that should have probably kept them out of finals but didn’t.
Jenks, making grand national finals last year and coming to the contest this year with a show that was equal to last years and a lot cleaner than most of the groups who placed above them. I can’t help but to think their show was judged a little bit off of personal beliefs compared to the quality that was put out by those kids.
Haltom, holy cow they put out a heck of a program this year and overall just played up to the level that Texas groups are known for.
Union, I definitely think their show was one of the dirtier ones and am a little confused on how their finals run kept them in the top 7.
Lake Travis, huge sound and just so committed to their performance. Wish there was more visual done from the wind players though.
Camdenton, this show really confuses me on how they scored so well. I watched it many times in person this year and struggled to enjoy it because of how loud their speakers were and I really feel like that killed their ensemble sound to me.
Bentonville, a group that usually impressed but this year struggled at the beginning a ton. Was not expecting to see them in finals but I think the panel system allowed them to make it in.
How were the panels decided because it definitely did not seem like they were “balanced equally” like they’re supposed to be.

I think they only split up the previous finalist bands into respective panels for grand nationals? They split the finalists from the last 3 years equally between panels at Super Regionals. I haven't checked, but perhaps the finalist turnover at St. Louis is higher than at SA or Indy? Or St. Louis will sometimes receive an influx of finalist quality programs that haven't attended recently?

Just looking at the scores from prelims and from my personal opinion, I think the judges got most of the things right. I didn't get to see a few of the bands that made finals in prelims or Bixby. But looking at the prelim score their Visual GE REALLY hurt them. If they had gotten 5 places higher (20th) that would have put them into finals. I did have a list for finals scores after watching and while I didn't get all but 2 right, most of them were just 1 up or 1 down. I wasn't surprised by Jenk's placement. I loved the show theme, but I thought it wasn't clean visually, which is reflected on the recap. As far as Rosemount, I do agree their show was a tad dirty, but their GE clearly helped them this weekend. I was altitle unimpressed with Broken Arrow's show. I've been to the 6 St. Louis Super Regionals and this was the first time I was unimpressed with their show. I think if Blue Springs has brought last year's show we could have seen Blue Spring's first Super Regional win. I am unsure how GE is judged but Blue Springs consistently places lower in Music GE than Visual GE in almost all of their shows.

Bixby beat Rosemount in music, visual, and music GE. That visual GE score was the final straw.

I personally didn't like Broken Arrow's show, it lacked form and again was kind of meaningless. However they executed it really well which is what matters in a judged competition. Shame to see them not go to Grand Nationals and compete against Avon and Carmel. I don't understand their 6 point jump.
Stephen F. Austin was a surprising one but a well deserved placement.
O'Fallons show really did not deserve 5th place. Although they grew very much from the Iowa competition, nearly none of their drill was extremely clean, and there was little visual challenge except for running around the field without drill. Except for the cool closer bit, their show was lacklustre.
Camdenton beating Rosemount was disappointing. Rosemount, although lacking the cleanliness had significantly more GE and challenge in some aspects. I don't see how Camdenton got the points. Cartwright made the show very basic, and without the choreography and drill writing, the show is near stock-cartwright. For the money Cartwright demands, he really ought to give them a better show- keep the amazing drill writing from this year and music arranger.

For the person that didn't understand or like Camdenton's show and thought that Jinks did better, I think Camdenton sounded and looked better. The show was literally called "Transformation" which is a very easy concept to understand. Camdenton put their heart and soul into the show. Don't be hurt because your show didn't get ranked as well. Camdenton deserved every single point they got.

Momoman- you sound very jealous of Camdenton's success. This was not a "box show" as you claim it was. All the kids from all the bands put tons of hours of work, sweat, and tears each of their shows. I think it is very dis concerning that you would say this about another band.

BA went up 6 points because their previous competition was underscored. "If" we were to compare scores in other competitions, they technically got beat by Lafayette. Which we all know wouldn't of happened face to face. (Nothing against Lafayette, it's just the truth.)

I said nearly nothing of Camdenton's performers, I have nothing but respect for all the young individuals in finals and prelims and those in this activity. Every single band poured sweat, tears and their souls into their shows. I was describing Rosemount's show design when talking about Cartwright.
I'm curious as to why you think I am jealous of Camdenton when I made critiques of other bands as well- you must be a Camdenton person

All the previous competitions before St. Louis (local and BOA) are pretty much at the exact opposite odds of the results we saw at St. Louis

Look at Bixby and Coppell's Visual GE scores in prelims. What happened there? Am also very curious as to how they both scored so low in comparison with the rest of their scores. Looking at Coppell's prelims scores in general, they were very strong musically but seemed to have had a rough performance visually, which is reflected in their finals scores as well, although they did much better visually in finals.

To be honest, I think Bentonville was surprised by making finals, as well. Having seen them perform and rehearse, they are working as hard as ever, but have a number of big program obstacles over the last 3 years. They have 84 freshmen in the group this year (38%). Their prelims performance was the best I’ve seen them all season.
