It’s going to be so exciting to see how this turns out when we get all of these groups on the same stage. Unrelated, but WHEN is Rouse, TX going to come to Nats? They’d be a finals contender IMO even with such a stacked lineup like this.

I know there is always things that happen, electronic failures, etc. but unless someone falls apart, this is going to be insane semi's trying to get in finals. Go BAND!!!!

One thing is for sure. No band should be upset if they miss finals this year. To quote Jim Ross, "It's going to be a slobberknocker!". And we, as the audience, still win.

It seems most bands are on a rotation for Nationals. Did covid mess things up and cause more bands to attend since we lost a year? Anyone know any of the rotations for any of these school districts?

Not sure about some rotations but I guess it was inevitable that we'd start peaking into the future layout next year. But here is what I've heard so far. I'll keep it to generally considered finalist groups.
Yearly: Avon Carmel Homestead Castle (rumored.. They don't seem to follow a set trend) Fishers Brownsburg Marian Catholic Dobyns-Bennett William Mason
Rotation: Tarpon Springs Ayala (rumored) Vista Murrieta (rumored) Homestead (CA) (rumored) Leander
No rotation but rumored: Wakeland Broken Arrow (this may be contingent on if they win this year)
This is all speculative though and subject to change due to any number of circumstances. Pandemic, trips being made, etc. All for fun but feel free to add to it as needed. I'm probably missing some obvious groups lol

Yet to be seen how 2020 may adjust that moving forward. Also, I've heard Pearland is strongly considering making the trip in 2022

Flower Mound, Marcus, and Hebron all go on four-year rotations during the off-state years (this year is wonky with all classes for UIL State). Flower Mound and Marcus go together while Hebron goes on their own. Woodlands and Round Rock go on the off-state years, and I think Claudia Taylor Johnson is joining them now with that two year rotation. Reagan I think goes on a four year rotation as well since they were supposed to go in 2020 for Morrison's last year there, but COVID messed that up so not sure what their rotation is now. I also thought Broken Arrow did a 2 year on 1 year off rotation with a big trip planned for the years off, but maybe that'll change now.

A lot of of my rumored and rotational (that includes Castle) are because I don't know exactly how some groups are still readjusting to the year of Covid. Which is why many of them are conditional.

BA is not rotational at all. They are yearly to St Louis and nationals. The recent years they haven’t gone to nationals but have done something else have been for very specific reasons, and had nothing to do with rotation.

A lot of of my rumored and rotational (that includes Castle) are because I don't know exactly how some groups are still readjusting to the year of Covid. Which is why many of them are conditional. The other major factor is other "big" travel that comes up, more specifically parades, Macy's, Rose Bowl, etc. that tend to make a band choose to do that parade and sometimes skip Grand Nats for cost reasons.

Hoping to see Camdenton establish a rotation. There was talk of it before the pandemic (with the intention of challenging Marian for the class title in Tarponless years, I would assume) but I’m not sure what the situation is now. Should the program continue to trend up, I can imagine that a rotation would be a realistic goal to achieve.

Good morning. I think Camdenton is trending closer to falling into AAA by the time they figure out if they want to 'challenge' anyone. Why do a rotation when the big guns challenge or choose to be challenged every year?

So who has gone into Competition Suite and created a list of bands by class?
And why hasn't it been shared here yet?
Note: the only listing I have seen included Blue Springs as AAAA and we know they are AAA from St. Louis, so that list would seem to be at least partially speculative.

Camdenton is likely to stay 2A. The county shrunk in size between the last two censuses, and the city itself isn’t big by any stretch.

Updated classification list as per CompetitionSuite. While most of the bands were in their database, only a handful of the implied A and AA bands were not (the smaller and new-to-BOA Ohio and Kentucky schools). Should be close, though! Camdenton R-III is nowhere near being AAA lol. There are barely 1k students 10-12. Remember that class size is school size, not band size (which has also seen significant decline, with ~150 on the field this season compared to the 210 in 2018). As for “big guns”, I think you’ll find that at least when it comes to GN, AA is arguably a more competitive class than AAA, if only because there are twice as many groups to beat to claim a guaranteed spot in semifinals. Good morning as well!
