...which band would you have wanted to be a member of? Put differently, which string of shows from 2016-2019 (or 2017-2019 for LD Bell) would you have wanted to march?
There's tons to consider here, like storylines, specific shows you loved or didn't, where you would have competed, your instrument and what your parts would have been. Thus, there should be a pretty wide variance of answers!
As for me, I would have to go Carmel or Reagan. Carmel 2017 is an all-time favorite, and I loved Carmel 2019 as constructed. Those two shows alone would carry me over not liking the other two as much. For Reagan, I don't personally love 2016 and 2017, but 2018 and 2019 are both absolute monsters of course. Hebron isn't so far off a third, as the music is insane for a trumpet player (or any other instrument in their ensemble!).

I'm easy, and very basic. And I'm giving two answers. First answer...Homestead. Because I love Homestead. And they are always the answer.
But, setting that bias aside...I'd default to Avon. Avon knows what I like and as a brass player I'd love to play in a brass line taught by Matt Harloff. And getting to go to GN's every year is a bonus over TX programs.
I'm easy, as I said.

My first pick is Broken Arrow. Their shows look extremely enjoyable to be in and I don't mind a little kitsch. They also get to to travel all over the US.
Flowermound is my second pick. While I'm not the biggest fan of their 2018 show, it still looked like a lot of fun. 2016 and 2017 are mainly why I would choose them, especially 2016.
Other picks would be Hebron, CTJ, and The Woodlands.

The brass player in me makes it’s easy!
CTJ 2017 Flowermound 2018 Vista Ridge 2019/Hebron 2019
Honorable Mention: *Blue Springs 2018 for its Visual genius! *Vista Ridge 2018 because that brass work was just awesome!

It's a toss up for me.
William Mason, because as an alum, I'll always have a strong connection to that program. Tough few years for them, though. Hopefully they keep trending upwards.
Blue Springs, because they have such progressive, forward design, which I think would be really cool to get to perform.
Wando, because they really focus on the art and I love their symphonic sound. Plus, they often have great oboe solos, and as an oboist, that speaks to me.
Tarpon Springs, because everything they do is such a unique, complete production. Can't say I was a huge fan of their 2019 show, but generally speaking they're always one to watch.
Hebron, because they are, hands down, the best playing group in the country. And what musician wouldn't want to be in the best playing ensemble possible?

Ayala really anytime 2011 onward IMO they have great shows with strong sections throughout.
Marcus 2009-2012 that group saw a lot of success.
Nation Ford 2009 - 2012 basically built a program from nothing to a solid GN semifinalist
Flower Mound 2015-2018 three super regionals
CTJ 2014-2017 no explanation needed
Wando really hasn’t let off he gas at all since Bobby took over and rightfully so. But if I had to pick a string to be apart of I’d go 2013-2016, although 2012 is one of my all time favorites of theirs. 2016-2019 has also been a great run.
I’m a music guy at heart so if I could go back in time and tell my parents where I want to go I’d say Ayala because front ensemble. California would certainly be a nope however 😅But I think we could have agreed to move to DFW so Marcus or Flower Mound would be my pics. Marcus for the music and Flower Mound for show design 😃

The percussionist in me says Ayala or Center Grove
...but I love marching with Bixby and I really do not think I would march anywhere else. I have made so many amazing memories here that I could not make anywhere else. And being in a program that riiiight there on the edge of being great is pretty dang invigorating. Being in an already well-renowned program would be awesome, especially considering that I would have a "better" music education if I was a part of one, but I would rather be there for a program's defining moments, or even a build up to a defining moment, than be in the middle of a large program's reign.

I would love to march with Hebron in their 2019 show. As a horn player, I loved it. Carmel got to chat with them for a few minutes during a transition between rehearsals at Grand Park and we loved talking to all of them they were so cool.

Having never marched and not having any instrumentation to define my selection, the choice for me is obvious:
Marian Catholic. Because who among us wouldn't be a better person for having learned about band, about life in general, and about how to be gracious in both success and disappointment under the tutelage of Mr. Greg Bimm?

Top 5 for 2016-2019:
1. Hebron - best playing band, consistently great shows, only band to be top 5 in San Antonio all 4 years. 2. Ronald Reagan - love their design and really like all 4 shows (2016 not as much, but still enjoyable). 3. Blue Springs - 2017 was a little underwhelming, but the other 3 shows were great. Love their music. 4. CTJ - All fun shows with mix of music and cool drill/choreography. 5. Avon - while narration kills their 2017 and 2019 shows for me (I like it in 2016 - go figure), they are so consistent with top level music and visual.

So many good choices, I mean Avon, Carmel, Broken Arrow and Tarpon Springs for obvious reasons. Who would not want to be in those bands, I mean they kill it every single year. They amaze me.
If this were my senior year in high school and I had to pick the one band that had the biggest moment for a senior class this season, I would have to say Vandegrift. That band has been improving the quality and depth of their shows the last four years (well actually the past decade to be accurate). Being a senior and coming to Grand Nationals in a band that is having their first Grand National experience ever and to perform the way they did and then end up winning the whole thing; that must have been an amazing experience.
If I were in Vandy or any of those amazing Texas bands, my only complaint might be having to practice in that heat. Seriously, I don't know how y'all get so good practicing in the heat like that. I would practice in cold weather over 100 or even 90 degree temps any day.

I would want to be in Leander. Their show seemed so fun this year! I've always been a big fan of theirs, and I personally felt that they should have placed higher at Grand Nats this year.
This being said, the seniors at Carmel this year also had one hell of a run. Even if this season wasn't their strongest, they still won three GN titles and numerous other awards throughout their high school careers. Congratulations to them!

Keller, Marian Catholic, or Blue Springs, solely because of how fresh their shows are.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I think it would be so fun to be in the Broken Arrow band. I have loved every show since 2016.
Second for me would be a tie between Leander and CTJ. Both are so innovative and fun and both put the kids enjoyment of the theme over just about everything else. It doesn’t hurt that both sound phenomenal as well.
