Alright, who’s excited for drum corps season to start? I know I definitely am. I personally think crown is going to be on fire this year, and I think crossmen is going to do good things as well after the direction they went in last year. What are your thoughts?

I think this year will be a Crown year or a Bloo year

I don't know...if Santa Clara Vanguard brings another show like last year, they'll take it all again.
The interesting thing about DCI is that it seems like whoever is on top very early in the season also finishes on top in August. It doesn't really vary much, or at least it hasn't the past few years. It will be interesting, for sure!

I love Santa Clara, but I don't think they will be able to pull off another Babylon this year. It's definitely a possibility though

I think BD and SCV will remain in the top 3. Crown is my all time favorite so I have to root for them and BAC seems to be doing better each year.

I know that top 3 will probably be: 1-BD 2-SCV 3-Bloo/Crown
But my personal choice for top 3 would be
1-Crown 2-Bloo 3-BAC/Cavies
However, I do know that there is like a 0.0000000001% chance that BD will not medal and SCV will probably not drop below 3rd or 4th after this year's win. There is a possibility that this year could be a game-changing year and have BAC win with Crown in 2nd and BD in 3rd or vice-versa, or a Crown win with Bloo and BD as medalists. The top 5 corps are so unpredictable and close in score that it's impossible to tell before the season starts

I just can't see Crown doing as well this year. The show design staff is still the same, and they've produced a lackluster show in both 2017 and 2018 in my opinion. They're bound to fall at some point if they continue on like this. SCV and BD both have everything going for them again this year, in terms of talent, staffing, etc.. I also think that Cavaliers and Cadets will both surprise some people. Boston Crusaders had better be good with their outrageously expensive tour fees and tuition, haha. That being said, it's still March, and we won't really know until we see everyone's show

I’m not sure if BAC is quite in the conversation for the gold this year, but with the way that they’ve been improving the past couple years, they’re definitely in contention for a medal next summer

Also, from what I have been hearing, everyone is in for a treat this year from crown, and I heard that BAC's hornline is insane this year. By the way, I also wouldn't sleep on vanguard winning again this year, as well as the the two aforementioned corps. This is going to be a really exciting year of drum corps. I personally cannot wait.

I would be very happy to see any of those corps win. I am really hoping for a crown year, but BAC and SCV are always really good, and Blue Devils and Bloo will be up there too. Definitely going to be a tough season this year

Is anyone else slightly disappointed at the lack of show announcements thus far? I could've sworn we had a lot more shows announced at this point last year

Is anyone else slightly disappointed at the lack of show announcements thus far? I could've sworn we had a lot more shows announced at this point last year I was actually thinking about that earlier. So far the only ones I have seen are Troopers and Phantom. It really seemed like at least 6 or 7 shows were announced by this time last year

Before knowing most shows and just going on gut feeling, my predictions for World Class:
1. Blue Devils 2. Carolina Crown 3. Boston Crusaders 4. Santa Clara Vanguard 5. Bluecoats 6. The Cadets 7. The Cavaliers 8. Blue Knights 9. Mandarins 10. Blue Stars 11. Phantom Regiment 12. Spirit of Atlanta
13. Crossmen 14. Colts 15. The Academy 16. Troopers 17. Madison Scouts 18. Music City 19. Pacific Crest 20. Seattle Cascades 21. Genesis 22. Jersey Surf

I would actually put crossmen in ninth and move everyone else down one. You’ll see why when the season starts. Otherwise, we have had nearly the exact same thoughts. I don’t think devils will win though, so I would switch them and crown.

Maybe switch them and Crown or SCV. I love Crown and I know that the past few years haven't been their cleanest, but If they can pull off another e=mc2 or Inferno, which I think they can, I can see them winning. SCV isn't my favorite, but a double win is definitely possible. Babylon was really good, and if the designers can keep it rolling, they could pull off another win. The talent is without a doubt going to be there Bluecoats are one of my favorites and it really hurts to put them in 5th but I feel like next year will be a very hard year. The fight in top 5 will be crazy

The reason I'm skeptical of SCV medaling is precedent. The last non-BD corps to win and then follow it up with a medal of any color the next year was The Cavaliers winning in 06 and getting the bronze in 07. Since then Phantom Regiment dropped to 9th in 2009, The Cadets to 4th in 2012, Carolina Crown to 5th in 2014 and the Bluecoats to 5th in 2017. Winning a world championship takes an incredible amount of work from the corps members, staff and design team and the only thing more difficult than winning one, is winning two in a row. Blue Devils have it figured out better than any other corps in history. Could SCV break that mold and medal again or even win? Absolutely they can. But I will remain skeptical for the time being.

I made a short video from DCI North Texas in Denton last night. It features most of the corps that were there and gives you a feel for what attending a DCI event is like. Enjoy!

Not going to start a new thread about it just now, but wanted to note that the drum corps season in North America continues until DCA's championships on Labor Day weekend, and Drum Corps Europe doesn't wrap until two or three weeks after that. And I think both championships have online viewing options.
