Was there like a 30 second timing tear after the ballad…it seemed way out. Otherwise it’s a pretty show. This must be the year for long ballads.

Yes Yes YES Broken Arrow,! Between (Indy and St. Louis) BA had most robust ensemble sound with a wonderful mix of visual and book difficulty. GE off the charts Coppel is a very close 2nd in terms of music IMO. To think that BA still has room to grow until NATS blows my mind!

I can not imagine what that sounded like live. On tv it was awesome! I look forward to seeing this in person in Indy.

Broken Arrow literally did the Blue Devils vertical swinging line drill. The drill was so good in this show (especially the opener) that I could hardly pay attention to the guard. Classic BA. they’re gonna kill it at gnats

By far my favorite BA show since their 2015 show. From what I've seen nobody but maybe Vandy and/or is on their level this year. I'm not confident enough to fork Kevin over to them yet in my predictions but they're definitely closer to it than other bands in that range

I know there was a long talk about Texas bands earlier on this thread, but I really think that we should be talking about Oklahoma bands. They have had a fantastic weekend between the two super-regionals and its amazing how much almost all of them have been improving. I would argue that the culture of band in Texas is also there in Oklahoma- the only issue is that it is a much smaller state so there aren't as many bands to go around.

Agreed, the depth of Oklahoma bands is very impressive considering they're a relatively smaller and less populated state. Broken Arrow is the top dog of course but bands like Bixby, Jenks, Mustang, etc. are excellent and do a great job at keeping the Oklahoma band landscape very competitive and entertaining. I wish more of them would take trips to Texas regionals and super regionals.

That BA show had me tearing up as if I graduated from there. I’ve gotten to know a few of those seniors so well from the time they practiced at Camdenton in 2018. The beauty that these students create is beyond compare.
And I fixed my camera problem, so I got some pretty great pictures of them to boot!

Always great to having competitive proximity to build culture, something Texas has been blessed with with several major areas in DFW, SA/Austin, and Houston contributing to the whole in Texas, with of course pockets elsewhere outside the major areas making strides as well. Same with OK

We could always just combine Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Tennessee, and Kentucky into Texas 2 and we’d be pretty much there

Same with OK This comment makes me feel that I should share this map I created a few years back and update after each season. It shows all of the bands that have had success in BOA since 2010 so you can good a good map of the spread. There are issues with it of course because there will always be more schools successful around places that have the contests. But from this, Tulsa has been a strong center of the activity for several years, which is quite impressive when you consider that there isn't a BOA contest held all that close. The interesting thing to me though is how much improvement the bands in other parts of the state have been making. Edit: trying to link to the map

You can feel BA’s energy even watching online. Cannot imagine that in person! They have so much time to improve that show and you know that is not the ending.

One thing I try to keep in mind when watching the Minnesota bands is that their marching band season is 1/4 of the time that southern bands have due to weather. They have to do all they can to be impressive on only a few months of practice time.
