Carmel Avon (Gap) Castle (Slight gap) William Mason/Homestead Homestead/William Mason.
- of what I’ve seen so far… I didn’t get to watch brownsburg, fishers, or much of anything else. Been watching St. Louis and doing other stuff.

Based on what I've seen previously, and the commentary here:
1. Carmel 2. Avon (GAP) 3. 4. William-Mason / Castle (either way) (GAP) 5. 6. Fishers / Brownsburg (either way) (GAP) 7. Homestead

The significant cuts in the practice schedule are not playing to their advantage. I don't really understand what they were going for there. That's my one negative comment for the day. I totally agree. You can feel the loss of Monday practices in this years performance quality. Hopefully they re-evaluate for next season. Being passed by Castle, Fishers and Brownsburg will be an eye opener for sure… Castle is amazing this season. The show is full of GE and is finally designed in the “right” way! Congratulations Castle! On practices, Castle's ensemble hasn't practiced on Mondays since I can remember (back to 2013). Guard and front ensemble I believe only on Mondays. But they do schedule several all-day Saturday camps thru early October to help make up. So it can be done. Also think there's more up Castle's sleeve and they will keep improving.

Franklin's show is super fun and cleverly designed! There's a lot of cool stuff to watch visually. I think both musically and visually could have been executed better but they should be sitting right in the middle of the pack for Finals tonight

That Franklin show makes me SO HAPPY! I love Lucy!! The guard is fantastic and really sells the personality of the show. I laughed at the chocolate-wrapping scene with the rifles. How clever. It's always a good idea to take something culturally iconic and present it with a twist. And I love using the idea from the original show of how Lucy was so desperate to perform with Ricky, and then she has her own solo tuba moment! So funny and entertaining. Plucks my childhood heartstrings of watching the TV show as a kid with my grandma.

Well done, Franklin!! They’re not back up to where they were before the director changes, but they are indeed showing that their 2019 season is not who they are for the future.
The performance was messy in parts, but it’s a great show —- super cute, which is not usually the aesthetic I’m drawn to, but it works very well here. Subdued cuteness, I guess. The translating of the famous chocolate assembly line scene into the guard getting overwhelmed with more weapons in an assembly line has to be one of the cleverest moments I’ve ever seen on a football field. Really neat idea.
Overall, I think our “big 7” stays easily intact for tonight. Franklin can certainly push up to the single digits, but I don’t think that performance will blow past any of the current top 7. I’m excited to see this show at GN when it’s cleaner and I’m sure will have a million more little details added in! Well done today, Franklin.

Beaver creek was great! They play so well. They aren’t going to be in the potential finals mix like I thought they might have a chance of, but it was a strong showing. I really hope they keep dipping their toes in the BOA waters!

I really hope they keep dipping their toes in the BOA waters! It would really help them if the visual wasn't so entrenched in OMEA style set. But I agree with the comments that they play and perform really well. The show is also quite fun. Had a lot of fun with it in Dayton. Same today.

A little late, but great performance Franklin! Loved the show, and it's definitely a step in the right direction. Very neat design! Once they clean up, they'll be back to their pre-2019 shape in no time! I'm thinking anywhere from 8th to 11th for tonight.
Also just watched North Hardin, and they have definitely improved a ton since Clarksville! They seem to coming back to more of their usual "vibe" if that makes any sense lol. That being said, the show is a bit rough and the design falls a bit flat. However, it's a post-COVID year, so that's no surprise. They'll definitely spring back! I'm thinking 12th-14th or just barely out. Not sure if the show has the meat to creep into finals (though I haven't seen many other bubble bands yet).

In the nicest way possible am I misremembering or did Stefen F. Austin from Texas have the same show design in 2019? Maybe I’m a little wonky.

anyone see decatur central making it into finals tonight? I’ve got them on the cusp —- not personally in myself (I’ve got Franklin Central, Goshen, & North Hardin in my last three spots), but the last few spots, particularly the final spot, is absolutely wide open. I think a reasonable argument could be made for Decatur in or out. I wish their music was a bit stronger all around, but that show is spectacular, and Decatur has been consistently rewarded in the GE captions this season and 2019 at BOA contests.

For everyone that says 'size doesn't matter', I'll say that Choctaw is the perfect example that size does matter. That show done with 75 kids? Not even in the conversation. Same with most 'big bands' of this regional. Avon's show with 100 members? What about Western's show with 250 members?

My locks for Finals tonight: Avon Carmel William Mason Castle Franklin Homestead Fishers Choctaw Brownsburg
...which still leaves 10th-14th open. I wasn't able to catch Centerville, Owasso, Center Grove, and Lawrence Township. North Hardin is on the bubble for me. I do expect to see some new faces in Finals based on the comments from this thread and from watching how Prelims went.

If Worthington Kilbourne was stronger musically, I think they would've had a shot for finals tonight. There are some impressive color guard moments, generally strong visually, and even some nice sounding full ensemble moments. I'm very pleasantly shocked how this program has grown; when I was in HS, Kilbourne wasn't even on the radar for me in the Ohio marching band world. I'm assuming there must've been a change in band staff.

Okay everyone. Buckle in cause awards are going to be wild! This year's overall theme seem to be chaos and I'm sure some wacky things will happen! We'll see. But now I present to you, my master rankings list I've been doing through the past two days. I've gotten to see each group live from the 400 level as well in case someone would be wondering about that. I'll be leaving some marks after some groups for various reason. So please, enjoy!
