Thank you Leander for making me look smart! They look and sound fantastic, would not be surprised to see them win class 3a and end up top half at least. I agree with you visually at least, but I still think that music GE is popping. They communicate really well with the audience. I completely agree with you from a personal opinion standpoint, I really love the music GE of the show. An interesting point about Leander as a program is that they almost always run into one music effect judge a year that just doesn't vibe with the show. Could be the more minimalist music choices, could be the pacing, but honestly I'm not really sure. Prime examples of the Music GE differential being: SA Finals 2014 5th, 13th Nats Semis 2016 12th, 3rd Nats Semis 2019 2nd, 8th SA Pre lims 2017 7th, 28th(!?!?!) Wow those are some pretty crazy spreads! Leander has always played well since 2013 again so I'd say yeah their obscure musical selections are the reason. I love them though

This Super Regional feels weird without LD Bell and Flower Mound in the conversation. I really wish FloMo was attending this year. But nonetheless, it will still be a fantastic weekend with lots of amazing bands! I’m really rooting for The Woodlands to win it all here, maybe even Hebron but that would be a tall task in a very stacked BOA SR.

Here is an updated video of Leander from Area finals. Speaking only about the design, they have made some great additions/tweaks to better flesh out the show. I still think that overall GE will hold them back from their more typical placement within the top 5-7 of finals but I would not be surprised to see one or maybe both of their music performance captions reach those placements. Oh wow, they really have added a lot of fun things to the show since Texas Marching Classic. I love the guard changing into mechanics gear when the van breaks down. And is that someone standing by the van trying to read a map at one point? This is one of the things I love so much about Leander shows. They just keep adding and adding, and surely when you think they’ve added all they can, they add even more. It’s just so dang fun. And the ballad gives me chills every single time. I’m so ready to see this show again. It’s decided. I definitely must go down to San Antonio early enough next week to watch 5A state competition. I need to see this show at LEAST three more times!! ❤️❤️

Seeing Cypress Woods make finals would be pretty cool as well.

I’m sure they weren’t expecting for their season to end so shortly. Would’ve been nice for Prosper to have had a longer season too.

Now I'm just going to say it since no one else has yet but.... Keller will be top 10. Not a joke, just a fact. Do you know what Keller scored in their last performance?

Keller is top ten capable this year like virtually any other year since 2015. No FloMo and Bell, as well as seemingly weaker Leander and Bowie, all help. However, they have to work against a Cedar Ridge that’s clearly back in full action, a surging Rouse, Coppell with more direct BOA feedback than they have, a cleaning Pearland, and upstarts in Cy Woods and Klein Oak. Not to mention Round Rock, who is off to a better start than 2019, when they beat Keller in finals.
Basically, I can see it either way. But all the same, I plan to see Keller Saturday night at any rate. They’re one of the most consistent bands in the game right now—would just love to see a return to a 2015-2018 show design. In particular, both the 2016 and 2018 shows would have done extraordinarily well at GN with another week to clean and grow.

Keller was very strong at the DFW regional. I am not sure how Forney beat them at the HEB show the week before. Very powerful hits and great marching on the individual level. I must say though Keller's show was kinda boring, to me anyway.

Aggressive comment? Anyway, I was trying to see how Keller will show against Pearland, Westlake, Rouse and Bowie. Bowie scored a 90.95 in Waco finals last weekend. Rouse scored a 91.55. Seems Bowie closed a huge gulf in points in a short time. Don't count them out yet.

Keller's strength has been and still is their ensemble sound. That said, they did very well last weekend and this weekend in the visual (marching) categories and in individual visual at BOA DFW. I think between their music performance and individual visual scores they should be comfortably in finals here even if the GE isn't as high this year.

Keller is a very talented band that has made finals at EVERY event they have attended since 2015. While they may seem to be a bit behind some other bands in the bubble, counting them out would be very unwise with the level of consistency they have displayed.

Keller for sure has one of my fave high school hornlines. I know they already score well in that area to begin with, but I really feel like their performances warrant higher music scores than what they already get. They have such a balanced, mature sound that very few other bands have achieved, and their sound in general is just so distinct; you KNOW when the Keller band comes on. I'm super excited to hear them throw down this weekend (over Box5 and not irl unfortunately).

I’m not exactly how to word this right or in a way that fully communicates what is happening at Dawson HS right now, and yes I know we’ve been hearing a lot about Dawson recently (all for the wrong reasons😢) but they’ll make an impact here, I maybe be biased but the drive the band has after missing state is something truly incredible. I don’t know where we will place but it’ll be somewhere unexpected.
