I'm not sure how many have seen the recent posts by Michael Boo, but he's been ill and in the hospital.
Today, he posted the following:
"Okay, I've been upfront and honest about this hospital experience, so I'm not going to stop now. Big request: No sorries, no expressions of regret or shock; only notes of encouragement, please.
The biopsy report came back. I've got stage 4 pancreatic cancer and stage 4 liver cancer. Without chemo I'd be gone in less than a handful of months. With chemo, which starts October 23, I have a chance of living up to 18 months, possibly less. Survival rate is 20%.
I am at peace with this. People will be coming over to look at things I want them to have. Just in case they l beat this, they might come back years later for their stuff. I just don't know yet.
I love you all."
I hope everyone can honor his wishes and give him notes of encouragement. We've certainly enjoyed his work over the years.

Michael Boo passed away this morning. This was posted on social media by one of his friends. A true loss for our community.
Dear friends,
I just received a call from Michael Boo’s cousin.
Mike died today at 3:54a. He passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Like you, I am devastated by this news. I am thankful to have had Mike as my good friend, and I am thankful that he did not have to experience the pain of fighting pancreatic cancer and liver cancer.
Mike’s cousin asked me to share this sad news on Facebook, and to encourage you to share this information with others.
As we understand it, no service will be held. Arrangements will be handled by Steger Memorial Chapel in Steger, Illinois.
If I receive any further information, I will be in touch with all of you right away.
Thanks be to God for Michael Boo. As you all know, the world is a better place because of Michael Boo. May he rest in peace.

Michael Boo was made fun of or derided by amateurs on several worthless forums over the years, but he was a class act who wrote some exceptional reviews and pieces over the past 3+ decades. A true warrior.
May he rest in peace.
