The single upside to this is that Georgetown won’t have to deal with the heartbreak of being penalized out of finals

On another note, I really hope this doesn’t put off newcomers to BOA like Georgetown and Grapevine away from attending BOA.

This may be an ugly year. Although I said that for 2020 ml baseball two weeks in and it went sort of ok eventually.

Weather delays causing BOA regional finals to be cancelled have been very common over the years. They have usually been for heavy rain and/or lightning. This may be the first BOA regional to have a weather delay lead to a finals cancelation due to heat. For those new to BOA, the regional champion is determined based on prelims scores when there is a finals cancellation.

Congrats to Louis D Brandeis HS, TX on winning your very first BOA Regional Title.
Not being from Texas and with so many great Texas bands to keep track of, I am not familiar with this band. Anyone know if this is Brandeis's first BOA competition? I do not remember them at other BOA regionals in recent years (of course a ton of Texas bands go to San Antonio, so again I could have missed them).

I knew I should've went with my gut and put Brandeis in first on the txbands predictions page! But I think I still got some good points. And congrats to Del Rio! Didn't get to watch any streams today but I'll patiently be waiting for videos to be posted.

Brandeis usually attends the SA Super but they did not attend 2019 when it was last held. I do not think they have attended any BOA contests otherwise.

I went back a few years and do see they have attended. All Y'all Texans have too many great bands. LOL Anyway, great job Brandeis. I will have to check out some of their performances on line.

Congratulations to Brandeis on what I imagine is a well-deserved win. They should be in their best shape to make finals at Area H and maybe even qualify for state should they hold off Lake Travis and Westlake.

Brandeis has been one of the better bands in their district (Northside ISD, with schools like Taft and O'Connor who do a lot of BOA) for a while, but they really had a glow up year in 2019. It's a shame they didn't go to any BOA competitions, but their real standout performance was getting 8th at an incredibly stacked Texas Marching Classic, even beating an (admittedly, struggling) Hendrickson. They were my favorite for winning this regional from as soon as we had a good idea of who was attending.

I wonder if much would have changed at the top if they had had a normal competition day with both prelims and finals? The scores of the top 4 were so close and I know things always change between prelims and finals. Just curious! The top 4 were all great and it was so nice to be able to watch band again. 🥳

Apparently there was some talk of Del Rio performing the same show they did last year. Not sure what it’s about but are there any rules regarding this in BOA? I know there are in UIL.
