Boonville voiceovers weren’t really loud in person. Nation Ford was very strong. Definitely going to be a top half finalist here Ya think? I actually thought they sounded pretty rough, but I don’t think the audio quality was that good. They were the strongest in visual and arguably GE as well out of the first block. Didn’t sound that bad either, though Fort Walton was stronger from an ensemble perspective. I also have them as the only finals lock so far.

1st block rankings: Nation Ford East Coweta Fort Walton Beach Grayson Boonville I would agree, though East Coweta had a rough run musically. But their musical weaknesses were stronger than Fort Walton’s visual weaknesses.

The same placement of field mics for Box 5 that made Booneville voiceovers too loud for you may have also contributed to how NaFo sounded on the stream. Note: I'm not on the stream, so I can only surmise.

James Clemens was good, maybe not finalist ready now but a good showing for a young program

Sparkman was outstanding. South Jones is a dark horse for finals. Crowd loved them.

Based on the webcast, my opinion of Wando is pretty much right where I thought they’d be on Oct. 16. Lots of room to grow still. Its very Tarpon 2016

Wind was definitely a factor, but man that Wando show is awesome! Definitely can see that top 12 at Grand Nationals

That block had some good ones. Sparkman, Hernando, Wando, Desoto Central, and Hoover are my finals locks from that group. South Jones can also make it depending on how the last block goes.

Well that show will be performing Saturday night, and it won't be as class champion either.
Sorry Texas folks, I think six is where we'll be.

I know not everyone will share this opinion, but I like the choir that’s part of DB’s production. I went to a school where often the most talented students in either activity were the ones who were in both. This show seems like a sweet way of combining the two into one production. They do a great job.
The music isn’t my favorite, but I’m hoping there’s just some issue with mic quality like I’ve seen in other comments. The band does a great job of filling the field- I really like that drill. I enjoyed watching this show.

Was anybody here watching DB live? On the stream there were a lot of balance issues with the brass, which seemed uncharacteristic of DB.
The show itself is designed very well. It's incredibly delicate, and I love that they took the risk of their subdued opening accounting for such a large chunk of their show (nearly three minutes, if I'm not mistaken). I'm curious where this ends up landing at GN, but if those balance issues were as easily observed live I think they may be just on the outside looking in.

Not my favorite DB show but it is a show the members seem to really enjoy it. Very ethereal ... but I just really think anything copland should be retired!

Wow. That was emotional in person. The choir blended perfectly. Online cannot do it justice. I think they take visual tonight easily. Could also see them winning the whole thing. Loved it from start to finish. That should be in Grand National finals.

There were slight moments of balance problems in low brass, but ensemble sounded quite nice. I would have them close to Wando in music.

Still think both Wando and DB are gonna have their work cut out for them to make GN Finals. Competition is just too tough this year

DB was great! Really enjoyed their production, excited to see how tonight plays out as well as Grand Nationals! Such an exciting year!!
P.S. I was very wrong about my prediction from a few days ago, haha whoops

If they have to compete with shows like the ones we saw from Wando and Dobyns-Bennett today then we won’t be seeing them Saturday night! That’s for sure.

Texas should be satisfied with that. Indianas happy with 3 every year. Texas should happily take 5.

Is it worth tuning in tonight for the live stream? If you already have a Box 5 subscription, why wouldn't you tune in? More to see here than the Orlando show, it would seem.

I didn't say anything about Wando, and I've already expressed my thoughts on Vista Ridge and Marcus both being just fine. That hasn't changed. Also, five isn't good enough when six out of six made it last time around.

To be fair, I haven't seen Wando, but the people I chat with most didn't seem super enthused. But even if I like Wando tonight in a GN Finals way, neither Marcus nor Vista Ridge (nor DB) would be my next band out.
