Wake is hardly known for its music programs, so I'm not sure what sort of advocacy they provide either. It may just be that with Covid they didn't want to take on another thing to deal with. Maybe next year if their football team doesn't have a home game. Perhaps, but Carolina crown has no issues securing it for Night beat You mean in the summer? When there's no sporting activity conflicts? I'm also sure DCI/Crown are able to shell out a bit more dough for the site. I'm not sure everyone realizes how petite MFA/BOA's annual operating budget is. They really do quite a lot with very little.

Boiling springs plays well! Obviously since their director is a Cotter son. However, itās mighty dirty visually - but better than powder Springs.

Still not a huge fan of this DB show unfortunately but they have made some great efforts musically since Jacksonville. There were some weird individual visual happenings (people forgetting body or missing dots completely). Ensemble visual is fine but marching seems a little hit or miss.
This show is very long. Although I love the choir, that is going to be really special come grand nationals.

I donāt think this is the best playing Tarpon Iāve ever seen but itās a well done production. I think their music is written a little dense for this dome Environment - idk maybe the etsu dome is just rough sounding wise.
Shouts out to that weapon line though, one of the best Iāve seen from them.

Have been working parking all day. Got inside for Tarpon. Reverb made it hard to hear musical details (and I think the short tears may have been due to the reverb affecting some of the band).
I put in earplugs midway through the next band. Music sounds better in here wearing earplugs. Muffles the reverb without taking away from the tone.

Concerns of Covid aside, it's great getting to see all those bands watching in the back stands. And great that ETSU played back to them as well at the end of their show. Very cool. And after seeing all the groups over the BOX5-TV stream, here were my placings. A lot of bands actually surprised me so kudos to all of them.
1. Tarpon Springs 2. Dobyns-Bennett 3. Kennesaw Mountain 4. James F. Byrnes 5. Boiling Springs 6. Mauldin 7. Signal Mountain 8. Bassett 9. Hardin Valley Academy 10. Ardrey Kell 11. Seymour 12. Allatoona 13. Mooresville 14. Siegal 15. Lakeside 16. West Ridge

Interesting that Byrnes is the only 4A band in the top half. Congrats to Mooresville, theyāre definitely having a down year but happy they managed to get into finals, as well as Kell.
Mauldin not making finals does not bode well for them going into SC 5A state next weekend.

Wow my predictions were bad. Either I'm not catching something in the stream (likely) or I'm just getting too old for this (equally likely). š

Congratulations to ALL BANDS. We truly thank you for choosing to be here with us today. For FINALS, if you want /need to place an AUDIO CONTROL STAFF MEMBER at the top of the stadium standsā¦. We will provide ONE Press Box pass, (that wonāt go in the BOX), but will get you at the top of the stands in the closed seat area. You will need to get the pass as you enter the stadiumā¦James and Bailey will provide the passes at field entrance of the stadium. It is one pass, one person.
This may help balance some of the sound issues.

I thought the issues were more with the dome itself rather than anything the bands can control.

For those groups who have the technology already available, it will allow them to remotely adjust levels on their electronics (soloist mics, shotgun field mics, synthesizers, etc) from near the music judges instead of field level (or the director viewing area)

I guess if you have shotgun mics the ensemble sound can be dialed down or up depending on whatever is the best mix? I hear what youāre saying lol. But yeah soloists and other effects too
