There was a show in central NC that Green Level won and Green Hope finished third. Scores not posted yet on NCBA. Based on the other bands present I would expect that Cary and Smithfield Selma were two and four but I don't know in which order. Smithfield Selma came in 2nd and Cary 4th. It rained on and off all day, so that impacted performances as well. In finals Green Level took Music, Visual and GE captions.

Has anybody heard anything about a western carolina show? They had an announcement up months ago but nothing since. It still says registration opens soon. I've heard nothing in my neck of the woods. FWIW the show is not listed in the on-campus events calendar for the university. However it wouldn't surprise me if that means nothing since the show generally is held during their Fall break and isn't something that's going to draw students outside the music programs. None of the well known Raleigh/Cary bands are attending Western Carolina. There is a local show in Raleigh (Sanderson) most are attending that has a prelims/finals format.

Blue Springs and Blue Springs South will both be at the Festival of Champions at Uni of Central Missouri on Saturday. I’m sure the judging panel is a bit different than BOA. It’s a 45 minute drive for both of them. Could very well just be a way to get the kids in front of a crowd before the next weekend in St.Louis.

Marshall University is located in Huntington, West Virginia, right across the Ohio River from Ohio and just a couple miles from Kentucky. They host an annual contest and this year's event runs tomoorrow, Oct. 16. There are four numbered classes grouped into two divisions. In a few cases, I recognize some OH school names, but generally not knowing who is from KY and who is from WV (and possibly schools from other states also attend; one name looks to me to be from VA), I have not added state information to the list below.
2021 Tri-State Marching Championships Schedule
Marco Division 9:30 a.m. -- Westside H.S. (1) 9:45 a.m. -- Roane County H.S. (1) 10:00 a.m. -- Chapmanville H.S. (1) 10:30 a.m. -- La Salle H.S. (1) 10:45 a.m. -- South Charleston H.S. Horrible thing to have happen. Best wishes to the family.
Makes me wonder if it was the same thing that happened to me in July. Going fine one moment, suddenly feel something wrong, then boom. I passed out and wrecked my car, but could easily have died instantly. I lived long enough to get emergency surgery to repair my dissection but was fading quickly up to that point.
Sorry, these types of things are very poignant to me right now.

per Midwest Marching Competitions Facebook page:
UCM Festival of Champions Finals Schedule *INCLUDING Prelims Score in parentheses*
5:45 - Hermann (84.4) 6:00 - Windsor (85.3) 6:15 - Rock Bridge (87.75) 6:30 - Hickman (88.2) 6:45 - Timberland (88.35) 7:15 - Platte County (88.8) 7:30 - Sullivan (90.9) 7:45 - Olathe NW (92.4) 8:00 - Blue Springs South (95.35) 8:15 - Blue Springs (96.6)
Pretty sure the judges sheet looks different than BOA given that a 96.6 is a really high score, but putting that aside, I am really intrigued by the relatively small gap between the two Blue Springs bands! Interested to see how their scores compare in finals.

I think the small gap is mostly due to the Blue Springs bands being significantly better than the other bands, and giving Blue Springs a 98 or 99 was just too ridiculous. I mean, at any BOA competition, Olathe NW would have probably gotten in the 70s. Still excited too see BSS at STL though!

WSMA State Marching Band Championships — 10/16/2021 Class A and AAA awards have concluded. Will update with Class AA and AAAA results after awards later tonight. Class A1. Cumberland — 80.6875 2. Baldwin-Woodville — 79.725 3. Columbus — 67.700 4. Platteville — 64.6875 5. New Berlin Eisenhower — 60.6625 6. Cudahy — 58.5625 Music — Cumberland Visual — Baldwin-Woodville Percussion — Columbus Colorguard — Cumberland Class AAA1. River Falls — 82.4375 2. Waukesha North — 78.2375 3. Milton — 77.175 4. Germantown — 76.075 5. Waukesha West — 74.1125 6. Greenfield — 69.2625 7. Wauwatosa East — 64.350 Music — River Falls Visual — River Falls Percussion — River Falls Colorguard — River Falls Are you on site? I had to leave after the morning session due to a headache. I'm a little surprised Waukesha North topped Milton in AAA, but WN did have the much more robust show design. River Falls was far and away the best band of the afternoon session, I'm actually a little surprised the gap was only four points. That said, Wisconsin bands are generally... bad. And Class AA at BOA St. Louis is going to be a meat grinder, so I still think River Falls is a long-shot at medaling in class.

That’s a really exciting score for Sullivan. I’m looking forward to seeing them at St. Louis next week. These are definitely some funny numbers, so it’ll be nice how these bands shape up on BOA sheets.
