Southmoore has one of my favorite shows here! If only they were cleaner visually. That guard soloist is BAC level!!!

Wish I could be here in person again this year. Keep those live reactions coming, and have a good show BA!

Thoughts so far:
Southmoore- Great showing!! Very easy story to follow and good ensemble sound. They definitely earned their finals spot.
Union- I’m having trouble getting behind this show. It’s a rough year for them, but I’m proud of the progress that they have made!
Stillwater- I really think this is a fun show! I love all of the church references both musically and visually.
Edmond Santa Fe- Strongest band so far in my opinion. They really have impressed me and so many others this season!! Bravo on a job well done. They had a bunch of students fall onto each other towards the end of the show, so I hope everyone is okay!!
More to come! Choctaw is up

ESF looks and sounds amazing! Choctaw might just be a little better though. I really don’t see Union in top 8 right now. The competition is just too stiff.

I understand Owasso getting second in prelims now. Their music book is so demanding and their GE is really solid.

Choctaw- Very good as expected! They sound so so good this year! Love the concept, and I’m so excited to see where they go in the future
Edmond North- Not a huge fan of the show design, but the performers execute it really well! Emphasis on the word performer, because the performance never stopped!
Owasso- Really difficult show performed really well! Not sure if they will pull off 2nd or not tonight, but I would not he surprised!! They deserve the hype.
Yukon- They are soooo good this year!! So happy they made top 6, and they really grew into their show this year. Their new director is making positive changes already, and I hope to see them continue to grow into perhaps a powerhouse!

Yukon is a solid 6th for me. Bixby is just a lot cleaner than them. I love both of their shows a lot though! Hopefully Yukon brings the heat again next year!

Thoughts on the last 4:
BA- WOW. Easy win, their live performance blew me away!! I really see them as an Eagle contender at this point.
Bixby- Flashlights were soooooo cool! Really thought they were very clean. I am thoroughly impressed!
Jenks- Actually a little dirtier at the end than I was expecting, but it’s such a fun show! They are a pretty solid 4th to me.
Mustang- I don’t think this was their best run, but it was still phenomenal!! I really think they may overtake Owasso for 2nd, but I’m not sure! Really impressed.
What an awesome year for Oklahoma bands! 6/12 of these finalists made Super Regional Finals last week, which is so cool. Not to mention that those 6 are NOT the top 6 at this competition. WOW is an understatement

They’ve never placed below 4th at OBA, even in 2005 when they endured a failed transition of directors(remember the Carters from Jackson Academy, anyone?). Also, Oklahoma is just having a super competitive season. A slight surprise to me after a year off.

Anyone think that the Tulsa Top Five is pretty much shattered now? (At least for the next few years)? Union was real low, Yukon was above them, Mustang got third. That shakes up the top dogs in the state quite a bit I would think.

Yep, and 28th OBA win for BAHS since 1981. Also of note, in 1989, 1990, and 1991, BA North JH was allowed to compete at small school OBA, and won those 3 years. Only 9th graders.

Like him and his stuff or not, his groups generally see a lot of competitive growth.

Perhaps it is sad, but they finished right above Choctaw which makes sense considering where they placed at Indy SR. Not like Union was going to make a dramatic jump, but I know what you mean. I don’t think all hope is lost for the renegade regiment. But we can see what programs do have faults when a global pandemic forces everyone to take a year off.

They have the means to make a full comeback, no matter what changes. It's a fantastic district.

I think the OKC bands are starting to become more competitive, and it’s so exciting to see! I think Yukon, ESF, even Deer Creek, Edmond North, etc have such bright futures. If Mustang continues to develop into even more of a powerhouse, they may one day soon be in the leagues of BA and potentially make BA sweat a bit. Also think Bixby has unbounded potential, so they are exciting to watch.

www.okbandmasters.com/contest-dates--info--results.htmlRecaps are out. Bixby was over 2 points ahead of Jenks in prelims. I don’t know what’s bringing Bixby’s GE down so low. They were 3rd in music and 2nd in visual. Jenks tied Mustang for 4th in music, which is pretty crazy. I thought they were both a lot stronger musically than Bixby, but Bixby does have a demanding book. Jenks’ percussion program is not the best this year, so that could contribute to their low music score. And Union got 10th in music??? That’s very surprising!
