So unlike the many years where the lineup at this show rivals the best BOA regionals.

So unlike the many years where the lineup at this show rivals the best BOA regionals. This is definitely the weakest lineup, and smallest, the show has ever had with none of the heavy hitter SC bands or top NC bands attending. But at least its happening so hopefully next year it will get back to the usual strong lineup.

Judging panel
Music: Rob Schoos, Cheldon Williams, Martin Griffin, John Meehan Visual: Jamey Thompson, William Chumley Colorguard: Joey Powell Drum Major: Maurice Burgess Percussion: Mike McIntosh Chief Judge: Dale Warren
With a panel of this level I wouldn't rule out a strong program or two from the region adding in to the show to get good feedback.

Yah they typically have a trophy for top NC band but how many even are there? I recognize about 5-6 and a few others I don't know from what state they are. I guess Marvin Ridge would be my pick for that. They are usually tiny but sound.

It's been some years since Cary bands have been there, but even then there have been strong second tier programs like Sanderson and East Lincoln (who for several years was perhaps a tier 1) taking home the awards. It was at this show where I saw Marvin Ridge several times and they are very good but they are certainly a tier or two lower.
Honestly though I think it's great for these bands to have that to realistically play for.

The closest any have ever come is East Lincoln finishing 2nd in 2001 to Alan C. Pope, the first year of show, and 2nd in 2016 to Summerville in the weakest lineup the show had had before this year.

Well maybe if Dobbins would be so kind as to stay home one year . Green Hope made a heck of a run one year (2015, I think) but had DB and Kennesaw to deal with, working from memory.

Could have been 2015 too the phantom of the opera show. I can't remember either. What years has DB missed since 2013? I think just 2016, 2019, and of course 2020.

So assuming this weekend goes off without a hitch this will be the first time the show has happened as intended since 2017.

By any chance is there anyone at the show today? I am, unfortunately I didn’t get to see any of the later bands. North Cobb had a really neat show, they had a very big sound. KM was super impressive, definitely going to be second behind DB IMO. They had some AMAZING soloists and just a really beautiful and serene show.
