I find it odd you rank homestead where you do when Mustang and O’Fallen finished ahead of them in both the preliminaries and the semi finals in Indy just a couple days ago.

Vista Ridge over DB?
That’s like saying Ayala 2019 was better than the Woodlands 2019, lol

No but to be fair as someone who loves Vista Ridge I do think Dobyns-Bennett had the upper hand performance wise, at least definitely in finals. Dobyns was very close to Vista Ridge in all sections of the competition until finals, if we do put Vista Ridge above Dobyns I definitely wouldn’t put Vista Ridge higher than maybe 2 places at maximum.

TBF to jamesfromrouse, the discussion here was about whether we would see Week 9 rankings prior to GN. Those might have been his pre-GN ranking.

Pretty sure Coppell had higher scores than CTJ and Reagan at UIL.

I’m confused as to why you have schools like Coppell and Keller lower than Rouse Vista and CP when they lost to them at BOA San Antonio since i'm inpatient for week 9 i made my own 1 - Broken Arrow, OK (1) 2 - Hebron, TX (9) 3 - Carmel, IN (3) 4 - Vandegrift, TX (2) 5 - Avon, IN (5) 6 - The Woodlands, TX (7) 7 - Flower Mound, TX (4) 8 - Claudia Taylor Johnson, TX (8) 9 - Marcus, TX (11) 10 - Ronald Reagan, TX (6) 11 - Blue Springs, MO (12) 12 - Cedar Ridge, TX (16) 13 - Cedar Park, TX (14) 14 - Vista Ridge, TX (10) 15 - Rouse, TX (17) 16 - Dobyns-Bennett, TN (22) 17 - Leander, TX (21) 18 - Tarpon Springs, FL (13) 19 - Coppell, TX (19) 20 - William Mason, OH (15) 21 - Castle, IN (18) 22 - Fishers, IN (20) 23 - Keller, TX (26) 24- Pearland, TX (28) 25 - Wando, SC (23) 26 - Brownsburg, IN (24) 27 - Round Rock, TX (25) 28 - Homestead, IN (27) 29 - Westlake, TX (29) 30 - Prosper, TX (32) 31 - Lincoln-Way, IL (31) 32 - James Bowie, TX (30) First Out: Westwood (next 10) Next 10, in alphabetical order: American Fork (UT), Carroll, (TX), Chino Hills (CA), Cypress Woods (TX), Grain Valley (MO), LD Bell (TX), Mustang (OK), O'Fallon Township (IL), Owasso (OK), and Seven Lakes (TX),

Is this the end of HornRank? Or did Jeremiah set it to automatically shut down once a band hit 98?

Hebron and BA should share #1. Hebron had a historically great show, but you can’t bump a Grand Nats winner from #1. Still not Hebron’s fault they can only go every 4 years like a lot of the Texas bands.

I think this should be the easiest number one ever, i know this topic keeps getting brought up. 59.5 in GE, like, come on.

Now, they most definitely would've taken Flower Mound's music caption, but Broken Arrow's show design was and is head and shoulders above every other 2021 production.

I see Hebron possibly above Broken Arrow in music, not music GE. Broken Arrow no doubt has the edge GE and visual l-wise.

Hebron’s strongest points, subcaption wise, are broken arrow’s weakest points. Even if Hebron falls in GE, I think they more than make up for it in other areas. Either way I believe we would have seen two bands eclipse the score record had both attended.

Hebron takes Music Broken Arrow takes Visual and GE
Broken Arrow can't play like Hebron (no one can), but they had the far superior overall design and moved like no other band could this year.

Am I the only one who wasn't that impressed by Broken Arrow's visuals this year? They definitely had one of the best visual performances in the nation but I don't consider them the clear leader. For example, while BA's guard was superior to Hebron's, I found Hebron's marching more impressive than Broken Arrow's (regardless of GE). BA's visuals were too amorphous for me to consider them terribly difficult and overused the technique of 'fancy running' as an easier way to get from set to set. Plus I feel that Broken Arrow's show wasn't that high in simultaneous visual and musical demand.

It seemed nearly perfect in comparison to their competition, which for me really made their drill and choreo pop for me

While the marching arts in general have incredibly low skill floors and the skill roof seems to rise every year, this especially seems to apply to fluttering and jazz running. It's really easy for a mediocre band to do it and look like a good band but extremely hard for a good band to do it and look like an amazing band. 90% of the time I roll my eyes when I see a finalist band fluttering and jazz running half the show, but there is always that 10% where a band is able to pull off the proper technique and make it look controlled and stylized. I think BA and BS were some of the best examples of this this year and both are really pushing the limit to what is expected from a modern marching band

Agreed on both of these, I personally thought Carmel's individual marching technique was nearly flawless, even in the more difficult parts of the show it was super consistent across the board (and of course that color guard was lights out.) But just watching the closer of Hebron's show when they were absolutely booking it while playing some ridiculous music (those woodwind runs as they came across the field before spelling "Hebron" ) made my jaw drop and it stayed like that until the end.
