The temperature in the hottest part of the state was an amazing 94.4 With the next highest city coming in 93.55. The under water city really took on its name and sunk behind with 88.9 followed by paradise island with 88.7. The 5th highest temperature on the day was rownsburgba with an 87.05. In 6th was my home town with an 86.35. In 7th was The Christmas time specialists coming in a bit cooler with 83.7. The center of the state cooled again with 83.6

It was interesting to hear Avon arranged by someone other than Bocook after all these years. They've always been a favorite of mine.

I thought all the bands played extraordinarily well in the A finals. Carmel set the bar high with that 1st performance and Avon topped it. We changed seats from the Carmel performance to the Avon one, we went lower, and the sound was a lot different. I was pretty impressed with Castle, I personally thought they had the most energy in their performance. Anyway, A great night for marching band here in the state

So many incredible performances last night in Class A! Great to see Noblesville and Floyd Central in Finals too--we were all Millers and Highlanders yesterday! I agree Castle particularly was hitting on all cylinders with that performance, and may be peaking at the right time. Band members I believe have added motivation by Director Tom Dean's announced retirement at the end of this school year, hoping his Swan Song ends--literally--on a high note!

I think I heard more cheering for Floyd's 10th place finish than from some of the bands who placed higher. That was definitely an amazing group of shows. Castle was--wow! I thought they'd take 3rd. I also enjoyed Carroll's show. Have they finished this high before? Marching band definitely came roaring back this year. Looking forward to seeing some of the groups that missed out on State come back for Grand Nats.

Loved the Floyd Central Trumpet Section too! Always good to see the up-and-coming programs and the excitement they bring. It's what this is all about.

i am for one shocked at the results. Avon 1st and Carmel 2nd I was very confident in, but Castle achieving fourth astounded me. I had them 3rd. The energy their show brought was astounding, where they lacked in technicality that made up for in pure emotion. Congratulations to Fishers for Third, and I am intrigued to see BOA finals. Avon's show was, as usual, fantastic. Carmel sounded better than usual, which is saying much. The band I am most interested in for the future is Brownsburg. Are they having a fantastic year or do we have a new up and coming contender for state? Overall, congratulations to all of the bands, and I a excited to see whats going to happen in future years.

Brownsburg, I think, should be a program to be watched for the future. Well, now actually. The size of the school and demographics of the area are certainly conducive to a successful marching band program. I may be wrong on this but I want to say that their current director was at one time an assistant at Broken Arrow, which would explain the Wes Cartwright connection. Brownsburg finished 5th as well in 2019, with a similar overall score, about the same spread off the winner. Hard to say what will become of Castle with their director retiring (they slipped a bit when he left before) but both Fishers and Brownsburg would seem positioned to be potential powerhouses in Indiana. We'll just have to watch to see how high they can go. It's hard to predict anyone reaching Avon/Carmel heights, but these two programs would be the most likely contenders to make such a run.

You are correct - Brownsburg's director came from Broken Arrow, and also marched Carmel in high school. A lot of great talent has come on board this year, especially in guard and percussion leadership. The kids have gotten a taste of victory and are hungry for more and willing to put in the work.

And with Center Grove and MPLT along with newbies like Noblesville growing into Class A contenders, I can only see the state getting more and more competitive. How great will it be when Carmel and Avon are no longer the foregone conclusion for first and second every year in Class A?? Believe me - THEY want it as bad as everyone else does!

Both Avon and Carmel have a shot at BOA, I hope they both bring their A games and leave it all on the field like they did at ISSMA. Super proud of my son, his bandmates and everyone involved in marching band throughout the state-it was so missed last year for sure

Both are so different and equally incredible. I don't know if there's any scenario where we could see both in finals, but I would sure love to see it.

I thought results in B were spot on. Evansville North was fantastic and deserved their 2nd place finish. Anyone with weather reports on class C?

I agree, What bands like Castle and Homestead need are competition. I'm hoping in a few years Indiana will begin to look like Texas in state competitions. Wouldn't that be something, Indiana matching Texas. Who knows!

Dunno if its state wide but the PBS in Ft. Wayne is showing ISSMA State Finals today.
I'm impressed with some of the detail and creativity the mid-level D bands put into their shows. They make these small bands fun to watch and they look like they're having fun out there.
