We don't know much about the future schedule, but we do know a little bit, so why not go ahead and start thinking about 2022? To be entirely honest, I'm surprised there's not already a thread about who is going to Grand Nats in 2022. MFA's own website lists future dates for Grand Nationals, so that event is truly "confirmed", but I would suggest these other super regional dates are de facto confirmed based on other events like ISSMA's schedule, or an Elton John concert scheduled to be held at the Alamodome on Oct. 29.
Oct. 14–15, 2022 St. Louis Super Regional — The Dome at America's Center
Oct. 21–22, 2022 Indianapolis Super Regional — Lucas Oil Stadium
Nov. 4–5, 2022 San Antonio Super Regional — The Alamodome
Nov. 10–12, 2022 Grand National Championships — Lucas Oil Stadium
The official 2022 schedule:
September 10th: -Whitewater, WI - University of Wisconsin-Whitewater
September 17th: -Obetz, OH - Fortress Obetz -McAllen, TX - Veterans Memorial Stadium -Las Cruces, NM - New Mexico State University -Clarksville, TN - Austin Peay State University
September 24th: -Toledo, OH - University of Toledo -Austin, TX - Kelley Reeves Athletic Complex -Shenandoah, TX - Woodforest Bank Stadium - Conroe ISD (Site Tentative) -Iowa - Northwest H.S. - Waukee
October 1st:
-Dayton, OH - University of Dayton -Louisville, KY - University of Louisville -Flagstaff, AZ - Northern Arizona University (Site Tentative) -Katy, TX - Legacy Stadium - Katy ISD
October 8: -College Park, MD - University of Maryland (Site Tentative) -Dallas/Fort Worth Area 1 - Pennington Field in Bedford, TX. -Midland, TX - Grande Communications Stadium
October 14-15: -St. Louis, MO - The Dome At America's Center
October 15: -Dallas/Fort Worth Area 2 - University of North Texas (Apogee Stadium) in Denton, TX. -Johnson City, TN -East Tennessee State University (Site Tentative)
October 21-22: -Indianapolis, IN - Lucas Oil Stadium
October 22: -Orlando, FL - Camping World Stadium -North Carolina - Site TBD
October 29: -Jacksonville, AL - Jacksonville State University -Waco, TX - Baylor University -Piscataway, NJ - Rutgers University (Site Tentative)
November 4-5 -San Antonio, TX - Alamodome
November 5: -Southern California - Site TBD -St. George, UT - Crimson Creek H.S. in Washington, UT
November 10-12: Grand Nationals

I would be shocked if they moved STL that early. I think MFA wants a super regional every weekend leading up to Finals. Is there any reason you don't have STL on Oct. 28-29? Edit: I stand corrected. STL has alternated between the 3rd and 4th weekends in October for many years now. 2021 was 4th weekend, so 2022 is "scheduled" for the 3rd weekend in October if the rotation holds.

This may not be exactly the right place for this sort of question - but are there any logistical issues (stadium size, hotel space, etc) that would prevent St George from growing into a Super Regional? I keep thinking that upping the importance and visibility (even if by just adding "Super" to the title) to our lone Western event would draw more bands from California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado...etc.
St George is pretty centrally located and the logistics of bussing kids from Vegas to St George have got to be manageable given how much visitor capacity Vegas is built around. Seems like it would be a great destination and would fit nicely in as an early-ish Super Regional. Or...you know...just move it to Vegas.

Stadium size and accommodations are one consideration, but I think the main consideration is enrollment. I don't think BOA would consider making Utah a super regional unless there were dozens of bands wait-listed every year. St. George had 30 bands in 2018, 33 in 2019, and 25 in 2021. If the event recovers and starts pushing 40+ every year then I think the super regional possibility comes into play. But I don't see that happening any time soon.

In past years, the Utah championships have been held on Friday night of the regional weekend. This scheduling would prohibit going the SR route. There was a regional held in Las Vegas previously. Sam Boyd Stadium would work as a venue, but it's nowhere near any significant number of hotels, etc. so that works against it.

Due to the size of Super Regionals as well, they pretty much have to be held inside to avoid any cancellation due to weather. That would be a cost that BOA and bands just can't eat in that instance.

If we were looking at the California and Arizona regionals which have been scheduled in recent years well-attended, perhaps some sort of bigger event out west would be more viable. As it is, anything planned in California is as likely to happen as not, and Flagstaff unfortunately got cut early on this season. Would love to see even small events happen in southern California (LA), northern California (SF or Sac), Vegas, Flagstaff/Phoenix, and Denver...but we need to see more reliably consistent attendance at whatever does get scheduled for any of that to work out

I don't know if it has ever happened (and I am not expecting it to happen anytime soon) but sometimes I wonder why there is not a regional in Oklahoma. I feel like a Tulsa area regional event would be awesome, drawing big Oklahoma programs like BA, Jenks, Owasso, Mustang, Union, etc. while also pulling places like Bentonville, Fayetteville, and maybe even O'Fallon or something of the sort. Or perhaps an Oklahoma City event could draw those same bands along with a couple of Texas bands? Wouldn't it be neat to see some DFW powerhouses make a quick day trip to OKC to compete against some programs like Mustang, Jenks, etc before Super Regional season? I have a feeling one of the big drawbacks in scheduling, because many of the established Oklahoma competitions such as the Owasso Invitational already have their hold in Oklahoma. I still think it would be literally so awesome to see a BOA event in Oklahoma. Thoughts?

I think the issue is that Oklahoma already has long-standing home shows every weekend leading to StL, OMEA and OBA. It's hard for BOA to get in on that.

I assume that it'd basically act as like a smaller version of St. Louis SR should bands like O'Fallon Township, BS or some Texas bands decide to come. It'd probably also allow BA to compete with other bands its size size should a Texan superband decide to come, which would definitely br a good thing since it is basically impossible to gage how good BA actually is until Nats since the closest competition they ever face is BS at St. Louis SA. Ig either that could happen, or it'd just be a clean sweep for BA every year and it'd allow them to start competing for the most regional wins with Norwin and Carmel after a few years.

Hear me out. Moving one of the Ohio Regionals to Michigan (Kalamazoo @ WMU) draws the attention to bands from OH, IN, MI, and IL. and having a regional to Pennsylvania around the Phiily area attracting bands from OH, PA, NY, NJ, and the coast states. I wish that states like Pacific North West would get back in the BOA spirit like a Portland regional sounds too cool not to happen. Call me crazy but BOA Cheyenne, WY. There is marching arts there, and they need love too.

An Oklahoma City regional would be a great idea honestly. It's a good location to draw in a lot of the Oklahoma bands from Tulsa and other parts of the state, and close enough that some of the DFW bands might consider a trip up there, or even the Arkansas bands.

Ohio "won" the dispute and kept the area known as the Toledo Strip when Michigan acquiesced in exchange for being granted statehood.

It's been an open secret that BOA has been working towards an El Paso regional for years now. This might be the year they get it done and bring over some of the 4 corner states into Texas.

Just to be clear, I have no idea if this will get done or not. I've just consistently heard of BOA efforts year after year to get this to happen.

They gave this a try back in 2007 and only 14 bands showed up: 9 from Texas, 3 from New Mexico, and 2 from Colorado. However, with the success of the Midland Regional I definitely think El Paso is worth another look.

I don't know...El Paso seems kinda remote to draw many bands from anywhere besides West Texas and New Mexico. It just isn't close to much besides Juarez. Not surprised that it would be sparsely attended at all. I'm totally biased toward any location that can draw from multiple states - and the thought of a well placed Regional or Super Regional that could reliably attract bands from the West Coast just seems like a winning idea...or maybe just a pipe dream.

Haha on my field trip last weekend our van driver was a professor originally from Mexico and it just happened that most of the van were former high school band students, so we were discussing marching band. He told us that he found the emphasis on marching band in America is quite strange to him, but he's been learning a lot having some family in a Texas band program. I definitely wouldn't be opposed to an international band competition someday
