Shouldn't those emojis be smiley faces? As in "we get to enjoy whichever Texas bands honor us with their presence."

Pearland and Wakeland have both been rumored to be making the trip up in 2022 It's an off-year for UIL 5A, so maybe we get Cedar Park or Rouse?

From what I've heard on Texas.
Westwood and Haltom put off 2020 trips and it doesn't seem that 2022 is in the cards since both bands probably underperformed their expectations this season.
Coppell and Pearland have both been teasing trips for a minute (especially Coppell). Wouldn't be surprised if this year gives either or both the push to do it.
Wakeland is probably ripe for a trip, but not sure they go for it. Cedar Park and Rouse are similarly ripe, but I've heard it's unlikely for both right now.
There is a band that I've heard is actively thinking about it. They've come in pretty hot in the BOA world over the last couple of years, somewhat out of nowhere.
It looks like it'll be 2018-ish in terms of representation, but the plus side is the lack of intrastate competition will pretty much assure that the band or two (as long as they're Texas Triangle regional finals capable) will walk into finals--perhaps comfortably.

Could it perhaps be a band who just got their first regional win this year? One of the first time winners I already mentioned. Another first time winner is waaaay too new to BOA to consider making that jump. So the last of the three Texas first-time winners, may go soon, I'm sure. But they'll probably focus on UIL since they'll be moving up to 6A.

I think we may see more Texas bands making official plans once UIL clarifies the state cycle for next year, specifically if the 5A/3A/1A bands will now go on even years and the 6A/4A/2A bands on odd years or if 6A/4A/2A will have a state contest three years in a row so that they can go back to the standard even year odd year cycle.

Coppell was originally signed up for nationals in 2019. They replaced this with two St.Louis trips to specifically prepare the program for a nationals trip.

I expect Camdenton to make the trip, as initially pre-Covid the plan was to go in 2020 and 2021 and then start a rotation. No word on current plans. It’s an expensive trip, and Camdenton is far from an affluent part of the state. It can be hard for the kids to pay the trip fees. Still, I’m almost certain we’ll see them this year or the next.
Would love to see Pearland and Rouse make the drive up! They’ve been phenomenal this year and I’d like to see that success continue. In terms of Missouri bands, I would really like to see Grain Valley and Blue Springs South attend. Grain Valley in particular would be a clear AA class champion in the absence of Tarpon Springs, and I think South could wriggle into semis. It would also be nice to see Fort Zumwalt North try to claim an AA rep spot. I’m surprised Grain Valley hasn’t gone any of these recent years, so I would not be shocked at all to see them in the lineup next season. With South’s appearance in St. Louis finals this season I can also see a case being made for a GN appearance.

Considering it's already on their calendar (and has been for a couple of months now), we can confirm Miamisburg as attending.

To my knowledge Lakota East and West switch off years that they go to Nats. With East going this year, I would assume West would be going in ‘22

A Tarpon kid confirmed on Instagram that they will not be attending in 2022 due to Macy’s. That's disappointing. That will be four years without Tarpon at Grand Nationals now. I wonder if they will switch to going every odd year now, since they previously went on even years.

I would add American Fork as a possibility for 2022. They try to go every 4 years and was going to attend in 2020 before COVID. I know their past history of attending GN is a bit inconsistent but that's what they try to do as an alumni of this group.

Oh, also Whitesboro from Texas as rumored! They had a trip planned for 2020. Very different band from when they attended in 2016 and hopefully half the band won't be out for a track meet.

So what I'm hearing is instead of "Grand Nationals North" and Grand Nationals South", we're transitioning to "San Antonio North" and "San Antonio South" Joking aside, I'm so excited to hopefully see some of these groups in Indy!!
