American Fork said on a Facebook post that they are hoping to return to Grand Nats in 2022. I would put them as very likely or basically confirmed at this point.

Vandegrift has the Macy’s parade so they’re out. I’m guessing it’s the school a little west of Vandy

They will take Class AA without breaking a sweat as long as Tarpon doesn't change their mind about not going

I'm a little surprised, but excited about the possibility of Argyle going. I wonder if this means that they will be doing any other BOA competitions?

They will take Class AA without breaking a sweat as long as Tarpon doesn't change their mind about not going I’m not as confident on this. Argyle wouldn’t be the first program that mops up its state circuit but has to find its footing in BOA. They’re capable of it for sure, but could end up second or third as well.

I agree with this personally. Looking at their recent shows, they are clean and they play pretty well but nothing in there is super difficult compared to other ensembles they would see and at BOA Nationals, even in the 2A class, you gotta bring something a bit more substantial to the table. Could they craft a winning show? Sure they could, but so can Marian and other 2A groups we have seen.

Argyle has not participated in any BOA competitions since before 2011 (that's as far back as I have tracked). If Grand Nationals is their only appearance, there will be no point of reference for how the judges will react to their design.

Can confirm Argyle has not participated in a BOA competition since at least before 1985, since that's when recaps become unavailable.

That’s a surprising addition. Hopefully they fare better than Whitesboro. Whitesboro 2016 was weird in that it was easily their weakest show in the last 7 or so years, and a pretty sizeable chunk of the band was gone. Whitesboro would have a much better time at GN if they went again.

Argyle is confirmed at San Antonio. Not sure what this means for Grand Nationals but it would be an odd choice for a first read if they are indeed going. Argyle going to SA is still pretty big news regardless on if they choose to jump to Indy or not.

I am organizing the Likely/Rumored sections for returning shows a little differently this year. Not a perfect system by any means, but I feel will help to add a little credibility. Each band will receive a Roman numeral “power ranking” next to their name and class that indicates how many times they have frequented the respective regional over the last four consecutive years. That’s all I had time for, and I think it is a decent enough sample size. If they receive a III or IV, it means they’ve attended three or four times out of the last four years, and chances are probably pretty good that they may compete again this year. These bands will be included in the new Very Likely category. If they receive a II, it means they’ve attended twice in the last four years, consecutively or not. Bands with a I ranking will only be included if they attended in the past year. These bands will be included in the regular Likely/Rumored category. Of course, some of these events have deviated from their normal weekend allotment, so that can certainly hinder or boost a band’s chances in attending a show they normally frequent. Like I said before, not a perfect system! I am totally open to feedback and suggestions from my fellow nerds. And as always, additional T from reliable resources will be also be considered and factored in. Also, I'm terrible at remembering bands that rotate years and what the respective rotations are, so any help with that is appreciated since that was not considered in these lists. Confirmed (4):Avon H.S., IN (AAAA) Beechwood H.S., KY (A) Ben Davis H.S., IN AAAA Miamisburg H.S., OH (AA) You accidentally left Worthington Kilbourne (OH) off the confirmed list when you edited this post.
