I am organizing the Likely/Rumored sections for returning shows a little differently this year. Not a perfect system by any means, but I feel will help to add a little credibility. Each band will receive a Roman numeral “power ranking” next to their name and class that indicates how many times they have frequented the respective regional over the last four consecutive years. That’s all I had time for, and I think it is a decent enough sample size. If they receive a III or IV, it means they’ve attended three or four times out of the last four years, and chances are probably pretty good that they may compete again this year. These bands will be included in the new Very Likely category. If they receive a II, it means they’ve attended twice in the last four years, consecutively or not. Bands with a I ranking will only be included if they attended in the past year. These bands will be included in the regular Likely/Rumored category. Of course, some of these events have deviated from their normal weekend allotment, so that can certainly hinder or boost a band’s chances in attending a show they normally frequent. Like I said before, not a perfect system! I am totally open to feedback and suggestions from my fellow nerds. And as always, additional T from reliable resources will be also be considered and factored in. Also, I'm terrible at remembering bands that rotate years and what the respective rotations are, so any help with that is appreciated since that was not considered in these lists. Likely/Rumored (67):Lakota East H.S., OH (AAAA) [II] Lakota West H.S., OH (AAAA) [II] Unless something has changed, I would remove Lakota East from this list, as these two bands alternate GN years, meaning West is likely going in 2022. It would be cool to see them both go, though. It's a shame they don't directly compete.

I'm excited to see how Worthington Kilbourne will do. I've been watching them in Ohio for the past few years and they're definitely one of the better bands in the state. They're not quite up there with the likes of William Mason, Centerville, Miamisburg, or the Lakotas, but they're still a quality program. I expect them to finish in the 40s or 50s in terms of placements.
Some other Ohio bands I'd love to see break into (or return to) Grand Nationals would include Kettering Fairmont, Fairfield, Kings, Grove City, Hilliard Darby, Beavercreek, Brunswick, Medina... the list goes on. A lot of programs in Ohio design their shows to cater to the OMEA standard, which does not put as much emphasis on General Effect, and it leads to shows that are a bit more old fashioned in many cases (my alma mater Amherst Steele is guilty of this, haha, but I'd love to see them try BOA too). I think a lot of these programs would benefit from attending a BOA event or two to get some feedback, even if they may not perform so well in terms of scores.

Very Likely (57):Indian Hill H.S., MO (A) [IV] Lakeland H.S., MI (AA) [III] Indian Hill is located in Ohio, not Missouri. Also, Lakeland can be removed from this list, as the band has been reorganized under the name Huron Valley, which you have listed in the Likely section. I would move Huron Valley up to Very Likely for that reason.

CONFIRMED: Loveland H.S., CO (source: Band Calendar) I will keep them under Very Likely until they remove the TBA label from their calendar. That's fair. While you're online, though, you can also throw Wilmington H.S. from Ohio in Confirmed from their Google Calendar.

(Almost) CONFIRMED: Loveland H.S., CO (source: Band Calendar) If Loveland, CO attends, I hope Loveland, OH attends too.
(I know there have been lots of years in which two schools with the same name attended Grand Nationals (Avon, IN and Avon, OH being a frequent example). Have there been any years with three or more same-named schools in attendance?)

Here's every example I'm aware of with duplicate named bands: Avon (IN) and Avon (OH) - 2019, 2018, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002 Carroll (IN) and Carroll (OH) - 2016 Collinsville (IL) and Collinsville (OK) - 2021 Eastern (IN) and Eastern (KY) - 2006 Edgewood (IN) and Edgewood (OH) - 2010 Homestead (CA) and Homestead (IN) - 2018, 2015 Lafayette (KY) and Lafayette (LA) - 2010 Milford (MI) and Milford (OH) - 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998, 1997, 1996 Close misses (not counting in-state schools that are in the same school district, like Lakota East and West): Franklin (TN) and Franklin Central (IN) - 2016 Grant (MI) and Grant County (KY) - 2012 Marian Catholic (IL) and Marion Local (OH) - 2017 Marian Catholic (IL) and Marion County (KY) - 2006 Marian Catholic (IL) and Marion (IN) - 1985 Milton (GA) and Milton-Union (OH) - 2008 Owen County (KY) and Owen Valley (IN) - 1994 Union (OK) and Union City (TN) - 2017 Warren County (TN) and Warren Local (OH) - 1999 So, no, there's never been more than two same (or almost same) named bands at Grand Nationals.

One potential group of 3 would be the William Henry Harrison High Schools from Ohio, Lafayette, IN and Evansville, IN. I would contribute to a fund raiser to make this happen.

I'm aware of schools competing under the name "Independence" from CA, IA, NC, TN, and TX. Would be fun if all five of them somehow made an appearance. There are also five "Liberty" schools from CA, CO, NV, TX, and VA. All of the examples I included contain at least one school from Indiana or a state very nearby. It would be cool to see an example of this happening with schools making a massive trek to Indy, like Colony (AK) and The Colony (TX).

Westlake (UT) and Westlake (TX) were already both at the 2019 SA super. They both seem like bands willing to make the trek up to Indy sometime soon, might see their trips coincide.

CONFIRMED: Plainfield H.S., IN This would be their first Grand Nats appearance since 1990 if it sticks. Plainfield is not competing, they are just spectating on a field trip. But, it could be a sign that they are planning to attend in the near future.

Exciting for Rosemount! I wonder what rotation they're hoping to settle into? Maybe they're just trying to establish a presence before they start a rotation cycle?
