Is Box5 not doing the logo and “on the field” on screen today? I already knew who DB was, but I don’t know all of these bands and I don’t think I’ll always be able to catch the announcement.

I want DB to be one of my favorite shows ever, it hits all the right notes for me design-wise, but that brass is just killing me. I just want to see what this show would be with a brass line at the caliber of some of the bands they'll be up against for the finals cutoff.

Too cute!! I loved the “don’t forget to tip your waiters” at the end. I would watch that again. Great job, PCEP!

That doesn't help intonation as much as they need it to though.

That show was really entertaining! Not often you get that much comedy with marching band.

That show was really entertaining! Not often you get that much comedy with marching band. I greatly prefer funny, camp-y shows to creepy ones, to be honest. Yes, I love a solid, intense hit with a dark show, but the ones that make me smile will always be more memorable. But that’s just my opinion on it!

I know I'm only watching on stream, but the brass sounded rough when they let loose in high impact moments. Overall I love the show and how elegant it is, but they need to rein in the brass a bit, and quickly.

Great job Monrovia! There were some really pretty design choices made with those flags. Maybe I need to change my name to ILike1ABands!

Marcus uniforms are easily one of the best in the entire nation. Why? The alternate colors!

OMG! I am still convinced those Marcus mello players are principle and co principle for the Dallas Philharmonic! Having heard Marcus live at the Alamodome compared to Box5 I can absolutely attest to the difference in quality. :/.

From an ensemble music point of view that did not seem like their best run. Some phrases just didn’t seem as followed through as usual

Marcus generates more emotion with their musicality in the ballad than a thousand spinning flags IMO

It's an impressive show, but I think that is a serious exaggeration. I would actually have to disagree with you. This year Homestead probably in the top 10% percentile of bands here marching and playing simultaneously the most. Ah, now I see. You may be right about that.

It is astounding how consistently Marcus retained their signature style through the years and continue to succeed with it. Of course, a large part of it is them playing ridiculously well, but the other half is the absolute stellar drill they execute. In the early years of Drinkwater's success, Marcus would never really move quite as much as other bands at the time, but eventually the pauses turned into something a little more artistic, generating accents for the music they perform. They've grown past that and have been moving more often to accurately reflect the times, but I still find moments in their show where a portion of the band will pause with purpose in accordance with the music.
Sure, there's plenty of bands that do that today, but Marcus is the only one I've seen really use the contrast of the pause and movement against each other purposefully instead of using those moments to fill with choreography.
