Even with mic issues, slight soloist problems, and maybe not the best run for BA... the GE in this show is literally on another level of any band that has performed so far, and is clearly the one to beat. I think so far, only Avon (maybe) can come close. Let's just recall that it looks like BA won with not their best run. Finals looks really bright for them tonight Which is scary!

Shoutout to ABC -- Avon, Broken Arrow, and Carmel -- for being the 3 most consistent bands in America. All 3 shows are excellent and reflect the identity of each program. May the best run win! Remember the judging panel is a fresh set of eyes and ears tonight. Avon, Broken Arrow and Carmel are the 3 most consistent bands in America to date. No doubt. An undeniable argument can also be made that Hebron, Vandy and Broken Arrow are the Top 3 programs in the country this season. Congrats to All these bands this monumental year!

Can someone list the show designers for each finalist band? I know we have three Cartwright and two(?) Vento groups. Michael Gaines writes the drill for Carmel. Richard Saucedo and Michael McIntosh write the music. The WoodlandsJon Vanderkolff (program/visual) Wayne Downey (music) Each are at Bluecoats and Blue Devils respectively. I know TW shows often evoke comparisons to each corps.. there is a reason why! AvonRichard Hinshaw (visual) - unless has changed

I'm so glad that Vista Ridge and their Big Blue Balls (that I touched two of) made finals. They've earned it.

Jumping into the top half will be super tough and has rarely been done since the introduction of that rule, but Claudia Taylor Johnson and Ronald Reagan are both more than capable of pulling that off. Though I will say Reagan's performance time doesn't give them a great chance to do so unfortunately.

Strange that people are caging Dobyns-Bennett's placement an upset. Surely the band that popped a 90 and took music from Tarpon Springs, a former grand champion, is at least a strong contender for finals? Is it really that much of an upset?

When I saw that regional result it was the decider for me to put them in my finals prediction!

While I am disappointed Castle did not make it in, I throughly enjoyed this year’s show. It will be interesting to see what the future holds. I’ve seen many programs take a dive after a major director change. With Castle’s tradition, hopefully they will transition well. Very excited to see Homestead bounce back with a strong performance. Also hopeful to see Brownsburg and Fishers continue their strong programs. Of course always great to see Avon and Carmel battle it out and represent Indiana.

Blue Springs popped a 90 a week earlier, so many people probably thought they were still ahead of the other AAA bands. I had DB in finals too though seeing how well they performed against Tarpon.

I would not be surprised to see Blue Springs and DB swap placements, though I am far more inclined to DB’s show. They’re so different it’s difficult to compare them! But they’re probably neck and neck, so someone will have to decide.

I mean absolutely disrespect by this question because I thought they did a fantastic job too, but can someone tell me as a more-informed observer why Norwin beat Marian? I just feel like I wasn’t seeing the same show as everyone else. Marian Catholic often divides fans. To me, they appeared to have one of the most difficult shows in G.N. and were achieving it to a remarkable degree. But that's just my opinion. I slept on Norwin in Prelims and ranked them lower than -- upon watching them again in Semifinals -- I belatedly realized they deserved.

Very few shows have ever gotten me emotional, even in person, but hearing Marcus's ballad over stream has me tearing up. Expert arranging and performance, one of the most beautiful things to ever touch the field. Really hope this show gets the credit it deserves from the judges. Late, but it got the credit. Very happy to see them tie Music and get top half.

Even though they’re fully deserving of it, you never know where a judge might rate a group’s performance in the sea of 34 semis bands, it was great for Marcus to be able to snatch the music caption for sure, they never fail to perform excellently in that aspect

I'm someone that isn't shy about saying I do not really like the piece Appalachian Spring but what DB just did....that's one of the VERY FEW times that I have enjoyed it. In fact, I may actually love that performance. That takes a lot for me to enjoy that piece. The choir really pushes it over the edge for me.

Recaps are up, and I will specifically call out Jay Kennedy (Music GE Judge #2) for the worst job of judging I have seen in a long time. His numbers are straight whackadoodle. Flower Mound in 15th? For MUSIC GE? Behind Marian Catholic? (The other judge had Marian 30th in Music GE)
He simply was not on the same page as ANY of the other 7 Music GE judges from Prelims, Semis, or Finals. Pure nonsense.

Came back to this thread to say I think some of the judges were watching a completely different show this weekend. Some of these scores I am seeing for multiple semifinalist bands are ridiculous!!!! Rockford in 29th? I get the visual aspect of the show and the theme may not have made the most sense, but that is kinda confusing why they got placed that low. Especially behind Plymouth Canton who they beat by a decent amount for the MCBA Flight 1 state championship this year. I am a big Jenison fan and they had a great weekend, but I am kinda shocked they beat both Rockford and Plymouth as they are smaller and are in class 2A.

Tarpon Springs has won Grand Nats as a 2A band. It’s not all about size. I didn’t see, but I’m sure all 3 had great shows! FWIW: Jenison was ahead of Rockford and PCEP in prelims and semi finals, the gap in semis (which to me was the better judge since they played right after each other) was slightly larger.
