The Woodlands has been a very solid show for me so far, but I think this Semis performance really made it come alive for me. Their big impact hits are REALLY committed to, and all the visuals and color guard look super extravagant. It also helps that they are executing it very cleaning. Very impressive double tonguing passages too, and each impressive section gets followed up by something equally or more impressive!

Dear lord, The Woodlands... are you kidding me? That ensemble sound!!! They picked a hell of a time to absolutely NAIL their show. Also, by all means, just go ahead and throw 40 rifles with unison tosses out on the field. Why the hell not.

Also is semifinals usually this packed this early? I know it usually fills up towards the end due to awards but at 10:30 AM? I love how many people are already here.

If you could harness the energy of the Woodlands show, you could power all of Grand Nationals with it! That run was so much better than the prelims one which is what I expected but dang. Just so good to experience live!

Avon visual design is just fantastic, and their hornline is so energetic and powerful. The great thing is that I think they have room to improve for their finals performance.

I can't think of two more polar opposite shows to go back to back. The range we're exposed to in this semis field is outrageous. Avon delivers yet again, and comparing the two is really apples and oranges. I happen to love both!

Avon is truly a master of pacing and developing the show. I don't think I stopped watching or listening the entire show because everything so smoothly transitions and develops into the next part. Their color guard is extraordinary, and woodwinds and front ensemble had some crazy fast runs they were executing super well. I still think there's room to clean for Avon, although this Semis performance was definitely better than their Prelims.

Had a question; What bands that made it in semifinals didn’t have a season last year I’m a little curious?

Was that Top Gun tarp and the post-show always in the show? I think this was the first time I've seen it.

William Mason is very good. Cleaner drill and more individual music demand than Wando so I'd give them the slight edge but It'll be very close I think.

The free admission for all competing bands from prelims doesn’t hurt either. The crowd energy is feeding the performance levels.

Avon was flawless as ever but personally didn’t like their show. Could definitely see it winning.
