6 states in finals and 8 states tonight overall. Pretty decent!

It was inevitable that many deserving bands would miss this year, and a lot of stung feelings. Regardless of where bands finished, Grand Nats have been an incredible competition from top to bottom and every band fighting for finals and class finishes from the semis are celebrated alongside the finalists.
Please be considerate in your comments and any deliberate antagonism will be temporarily banned for the night.

Paging boa junkies. What’s the most dramatic change from semis to finals where a band ended up winning the eagle? Has anyone outside of the top 3 in semis ever came back and won or is Kevin destined to leave Texas?

Has anyone outside of the top 3 in semis ever came back and won or is Kevin destined to leave Texas? The two years that come immediately to mind is 2001, when Lawrence Central won taking no captions, and 2006, when Broken Arrow won on an almost completely come-from-behind finals push. The other that comes to mind on a lesser scale was Carmel winning in 2016 from a GE-tiebreaker.

For those of you who have used Box5 for mobile with a web browser, does it work well? Thinking about buying a finals webcast but I'm gonna be on my phone for it.

Congrats and GOOD LUCK to all the finals bands and a special shout out to the Mustang Marching Band! I don't live in Mustang, but I do work there and the band was the talk of the town after making local news about their traveling woes. The whole town was behind them today!

Box5 worked quite well for me when I used it on mobile. It's also really easy to record bands if you use the iPhone's built in screen recorder (assuming you have an iPhone).

"The incredible quality of Box5". Where is the button to turn on the incredible quality exactly? I think I missed it.

I remember the two second pauses in the feed. Not even sure if the music was delayed. This is amazing advancement. Lol

Box5 is great on mobile though you may have to reload occasionally or just accept listening to the music. They’ll probably have the highest viewership in history tonight. I hope the server can handle it.

Manifesting a CTJ victory as we speak.

Broken Arrow was 4th in semis in 2006 and won their first championship that year. 2006 was the only year I competed at GN, and I’ll never forget those incredible shows! Carmel, BA, Avon, LD Bell, PCEP, Marian and that earworm of a Paganini show…man what a night that was

I hope the band that wants to win wins! And I hope all of these kids have the run of their lives. They’re performing for themselves, their band, and the seniors of 2020 who missed their chance. Every band in finals has what it takes to be an eagle contender!
Only a few more hours until we can start talking about winter guard 😉

Did my taxes go to a dude playing guitar at a high school marching band competition or is this an independent thing?

If it were me I’d rather have my best run of the season and a lower placement over an average run and a better place. Here’s hoping everyone has a great time and walks out proud of your performance, your months of hard work and your bandmates and peers who take the field tonight!

Dan is so right about audience participation I found the whole thing weird. I mean...there's not one person there for Grand Nationals that doesn't know that the energy of the crowd propels performances. Or that the marching beat and degree of simultaneous demand of these performances is hard.

Has a Grand Nationals champion ever swept captions? Carmel did it in 2017 and 2018. Though they tied with Broken Arrow for the music caption in 2017.
